Brucejack is a fly-in/fly-out operation with pick-up points across Western Canada, making it easy for people from different places to join us. We work closely with local First Nations communities including the Nisga’a, Tahltan, Gitanyow, and Gitxsan, to build respectful partnerships and celebrate our shared community.As a member of the Brucejack family, we put your health, comfort, and safety first. The committee also plans holiday decorations, charity raffles, and outdoor events, helping create a warm and friendly community.Your ImpactAs the Lead, Health & Hygiene, you will play a key role in safeguarding employee well-being by developing and executing workplace health, medical, and hygiene programs. You’ll ensure compliance with regulatory standards, conduct risk assessments, and drive continuous improvement in occupational health practices.As Part of Our Team, You Will:
- Develop and implement health, hygiene, and medical programs to minimize workplace risks.
- Conduct exposure monitoring for air quality, noise, and hazardous substances.
- Lead compliance efforts with occupational health regulations and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and training on workplace hygiene and safety.
- Analyze health and hygiene data to identify trends and improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement hazard control measures.
- Manage and develop a team, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Prerequisities for Your Success in This Role:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or related field.
- Experience: 5+ years in occupational health, hygiene, or industrial safety, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
- Certifications (Preferred): Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH).
- Soft Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, communication, and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Required Knowledge:
- Risk assessment principles.
- Air and noise monitoring principles.
- Gas detection principles and gases.
- Control management principles to achieve exposure reductions.
- Ventilation principles and how it can be applied for hazardous material control.
- Statistical principles within the IH context and how to apply to assess exposure risks.
- Occupational health and how it interacts with the IH prevention strategies.
- CIH/ROH is an asset.
- Technical Skills:
- Understand different assessment methodologies for a variety of hazardous agents within the mining industry (e.g. silica/dust, vibration, radiation).
- Understand sampling strategies within resource constraints while maintaining statistical analysis and power.
- Understand best practices within the IH field as well knowledge of regulatory agencies, BC HSRC is an asset.
- Familiarity with underground operations is an asset.
- Strong written, oral, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-initiating and independent.
Your Work Environment:
- Location: This is a FIFO role based onsite at Brucejack Mine in Northern BC. Role is offered with 2-weeks on, 2-weeks off rotating schedule
- Work Setting: Combination of fieldwork, on-site assessments, and office-based reporting.
- Collaboration: Work closely with safety teams, operational leaders, and regulatory bodies.
- Pace: Fast-moving environment requiring adaptability and proactive decision-making.

This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
