Job title Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Numerical Analysis and Data ScienceDepartment Mathematical SciencesSalary Starting from £46,485, rising to £55,295Grade Grade 8Contract Type Full Time, Open EndedPlaced on Thursday 13 February 2025Closing date Thursday 13 March 2025Interview date Wednesday 26 March 2025Reference ED12447Applicant Visa Guidance ShareLecturer (Assistant Professor) in Numerical Analysis and Data ScienceThe Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath invites applications for a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) to join the research group Numerical Analysis and Data Science.About the roleThe appointee will be expected to deliver a high-quality research programme, and to develop and submit competitive applications for external funding.The appointee is expected to teach units related to numerical analysis, machine learning, and programming.About youThe candidate should contribute to existing strengths in linear algebra, approximation theory, numerical solution of differential equations, inverse problems, scientific computing, uncertainty quantification, and mathematics of machine learning, or bring complementary strengths in computational mathematics or mathematical aspects of data science.Candidates should also be strongly interested in pursuing excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervising graduate students.About usThe Department of Mathematical Sciences has over 70 academic staff from all areas of Mathematics.Our Department emphasises the unity of mathematics and there are strong interactions between research groups, especially with Statistics, Numerical Analysis, and Applied Mathematics, as well as a wide variety of interdisciplinary research projects and industrial collaborations.Research and visibility are enhanced by Maths4DL.
