We encourage a vibrant and inclusive community (Athena Swan Bronze).The roleThe School of Geography & Environmental Science is seeking to appoint up to two Lecturers in Climate and Environmental Change (permanent Level 5 or 6 and 4-year fixed term Level 5).These appointments will strengthen and complement the school’s existing research, teaching, and impact activities within the interdisciplinary context of landscape dynamics, ecology, environmental change and sustainability. The posts will complement existing School strengths through the addition of research focused around innovative approaches to atmospheric, climate or earth system modelling, palaeoclimate reconstruction, environmental microbial or applied ecology, ecogeomorphology, cryosphere, geohazards, pollution, urban environments, nature-based solutions or sustainable coastal environments.Teaching activities for this post will be at undergraduate and/or postgraduate-taught (MSc) level, conducted through lectures, tutorials, practical classes, seminars, and/or fieldwork. Teaching responsibilities will involve co-teaching on core programme modules and/or field courses, with scope for developing new, innovative modules in specialist disciplinary areas.About youWe seek applicants with a PhD (or equivalent professional qualification and/or experience) whose research actively engages disciplinary specialities in Physical Geography and/or Environmental Science. Methodological skills of particular relevance include (but are not limited to) climate, atmospheric or earth system modelling, geospatial analysis of large datasets or molecular analyses.We especially encourage applicants with either an emerging or established track record of research leadership and a demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary science.
