As a global leader in real estate services and investment management, JLL requires a dedicated professional to support our legal operations and ensure compliance across our diverse portfolio of services.WHAT YOU’LL BE DOINGUnder the guidance of the Head of Legal, prepare, draft and negotiate legal contracts, including but not limited to: non-disclosure (NDAs), brokerage, project management, employment and corporate-commercial related agreementsAssist Head of Legal to provide prompt, professional and efficient support to all business lines/staff as and when necessaryDraft correspondence with external clients and government regulators/agenciesAssist with the application for, and maintenance of, profiles, files, and accounts with regulatory bodies across CanadaOccasionally, under the supervision of the Head of Legal, conduct reviews of process and assist with the creation of handbooks, trainings, and updates processes for various business linesLiaise with compliance team to ensure that templates and processes for business are aligned with changes to law, regulation, and industry standardReceive, triage, and process mail from external regulatory bodies, clients, and/or companies and individuals relating to litigation, payments, and the maintenance of licensing and registrationCounsel and advise internal staff with respect to contracts and commercial issuesAmend standard JLL Canada approved templates in accordance with changes in law, regulation, or industry standardsAssist the Head of Legal and the CEO/other senior management leaders from time to time with respect to important initiatives of the Company (for ex., Charity & Diversity Committees, Sustainability Centre of Excellence, United Nations etc.)Provide support, manage external counsel or lead assistance on small claims, human rights tribunals (mediations/hearings), debt collection and wrongful termination matters as and when requestedParticipate in and/or lead Ethics Investigations through the Company’s ethics portalBe responsible for (and manage external counsel where applicable) French translation related tasks for the CompanyWork with and assist members of JLL US legal team as and when required on a prompt basisProvide administrative support to the Head of Legal from time to time as required (calendar, booking meetings, booking travel, expense reimbursement)Take all steps to keep your license in good standing (professional courses, submission of annual fees, etc.)Interface independently with high level client contactsDraft and respond to pre-litigation demand letters, and negotiates deadlines and discovery response parameters with opposing counselWork with minimum supervision on routine projects, moderate supervision on more complex or sensitive mattersDemonstrate creativity, initiative and willingness to commit extra time and effort to projects.Have an “entrepreneurial” mindset; be willing to take on tasks that one may have never been exposed to in the pastIf requested, attend at corporate headquarters for training and/or legal summitsAs and when requested, take on other new initiatives/assignments that may be reasonably assigned to you from time to time by the Head of LegalWHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORDiploma or degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Administration, or a related fieldPrior experience in a Law firm or corporate legal departmentExperience in real estate or commercial law is preferredA strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations, particularly those related to real estate and commercial transactions, is essential.
