Your Opportunity:Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position on their Acute Care unit! Wetaskiwin is a large rural hospital, and you will have the opportunity to work on all three inpatient acute care units. The acute care units range from 16 to 27 beds with the prospect of working both surgical and medical. This unit fosters a strong collaborative team environment with Nurses, Physicians, Unit Clerks, and Health Care Aides. This position will report to the Unit Manager – Wetaskiwin and will support the surgical and medical units. The LPN will be committed to providing open communication and feedback with respect for colleagues, care providers, patients and families. The LPN will also work as a member of a health care team, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of the patients/clients. The LPN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care and should expect to work to their full scope of practice. This position offers the opportunity for both personal and professional development within a variety of teams. The place of work is in a community designated for Canada Student Loan Forgiveness. You may be eligible for Canada Student Loan forgiveness if you meet other eligibility requirements. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. The city name comes from the Cree word which means the hills where peace was made. You can take a self-guided tour through the historic downtown and read about the peace cairn that commemorates sixty years of peace between the Blackfoot and the Cree. Wetaskiwin has an extensive trail system that leads you around the entire city with a direct connection to By-the-Lake Park. Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Strong communication skills, both written and orally. Preferred Qualifications:Minimum (1) year employment as a licensed practical nurse in acute care in the past (3) years.
