Position SummaryThe Life Skills Program Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of Life Skills programming across the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM) communities. This role will report to the Vice President of Partnerships & College and Career Readiness to help develop Life Skill programs from start to implementation, including management of event logistics and evaluation of each program.The Program Specialist will manage new and existing programs, while working within the scope and sequence of the Life Skills yearly plan. This role is essential to helping close the gap in all Life Skills areas (skilled trades, mental health, physical health, etc.) and provide opportunities and resources for girls to become leaders. They will work on both short-term and long-term goals that fit within the strategic plan of the department, as well as the Council’s overall goals.Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside Vice President of Partnerships & College and Career Readiness to adhere to budgeting needs, provide a program strategy, meet objectives, and manage partnerships effectively.
- Research, coordinate and manage all Life Skills programming, including serving as a facilitator and chaperone for some workshops.
- Serve as a leader and key contributor for the Girl Advisory Board, Michigan Women’s Commission, United Nations Leadership Opportunity, and other council initiatives as required.
- Serve as a project manager including tracking all tasks, ensuring all deadlines are met, connecting with appropriate partners and vendors, securing venues, procuring all necessary items, developing an evaluation plan for each program, and planning appropriate meetings with stakeholders.
- Work with partners and vendors to provide impactful and relevant programming throughout all GSSEM communities.

- Work with the marketing and communications team to plan campaign strategies for all Life Skills events.
- Serve as key point of contact for partners and other
- Help manage the event plan, timeline, and action items with the Project Manager of Programs and Events.
- Monitor the program budget and work with the Fund Development team on securing grant funding for programs.
- Provide timely feedback on project plans when
- Arrange all event services such as food, transportation, when needed.

Essential Requirements:Education
- Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in a related field preferred or equivalent
- Minimum of three (3) years project/program
- Minimum of three (3) years working directly with vendors, external partners and/or volunteers.

- Demonstrated skills in creative thinking, problem solving and

- Experience supporting leadership/management
- Proven track record in developing relationships with staff, volunteers, and community organizations.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with other departments to meet mutual
- Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional computer programs.

Starting Salary: $43,888
