We have an exciting and unique opportunity for the right person to help us strengthen and embed the voice of lived experience in strategic commissioning. This 18-month, Band 8a, fixed term role sits within the Lived Experience Service working directly to the Associate Director for Lived Experience. An appropriate base will be considered with the successful candidate.The Lived Experience Lead for Commissioning will work strategically at a senior level to fulfil statutory obligations to involve patients and carers in commissioning of the North East North Cumbria Provider Collaboratives.We are looking for an authentic individual who is motivated and passionate to help us achieve strong co-production in strategic commissioning processes and decision making. The successful candidate will be an exceptional communicator, with strong interpersonal skills which enable them to quickly establish constructive relationships with a wide range of people. Your own lived experience of services as a service user or carer are desirable but not essential.They will be responsible and accountable for the design and delivery of data systems and a robust governance framework, specifically in relation to lived experience wellbeing support, involvement monitoring, progression, and reporting.Demonstrative experience of project management skills, as well as experience of working in an involvement or commissioning setting will support your application.Main duties of the jobWill work strategically at a senior level to support Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) and Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) to fulfil statutory obligations to involve patients and carers in Provider Collaborative commissioning and, ensure that patient and carer involvement requirements under the Trust’s Strategy are delivered through effective leadership and partnership working.To work directly alongside service users and carers in the design and delivery of a lived experience co-commissioning framework in order to support the Provider Collaborative Partnership by developing ways for service users and carers to have their voices heard and acted upon in a strategic commissioning context.Implement the recruitment, induction and support structure for Lived Experience Commissioning Partners who will provide specialist representation in respect of each Provider Collaborative as members of the Commissioning Group, Partnership Board and respective Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG) ‘Insight Tables’.Coordinate and Chair the Insight Tables to ensure they are undertaken in a timely and productive manner in order to ensure current themes are fed back by Lived Experience Commissioning Partners into the Provider Collaborative Commissioning Group and Partnership Board.Co-create a support network and training offer for LEAGs (and wider) and staff within partnership commissioning infrastructure.About usProvider Collaboratives were introduced as part of the NHS Long Term Plan to formalise a fundamental shift in expectations from providers working autonomously to working collaboratively, in partnership.   • Highly developed specialist professional knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience, plus additional specialist management knowledge acquired through training and experience, to Masters level equivalent.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in change management and equivalent by practical experience of involving patients and the public and management at a senior level.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and learning in a relevant field.

  • Strategic transformation, at senior level with proven track record of using professional knowledge (managerial and/or clinical) to influence and bring about change.
  • Setting and delivering (patient and carer involvement) improvement programmes within a service or organisation.
