We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Kidney Transplant Surgeon to join our dynamic transplant team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and performing kidney transplant surgeries, providing high-quality surgical care to patients with end-stage renal disease. You will be involved in the full spectrum of transplant care, including pre-operative assessments, conducting complex kidney transplants from both living and deceased donors, and managing post-operative patient care.As a key member of the transplant team, you will collaborate with nephrologists, transplant coordinators, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for transplant recipients. The role requires expertise in kidney transplantation techniques, including vascular access and laparoscopic procedures, and involvement in multidisciplinary meetings to review and plan patient care.The position also offers the opportunity to participate in innovative research, contribute to clinical trials, and engage in academic teaching and training of junior doctors and medical students. Qualification and Registration
Essential
- Maintain Full registration with the GMC.
- Must have CCT Renal Transplant Surgery and have been entered on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of the appointment.
Desirable
- Higher academic qualification (e.g., MD or MS).
Training and Experience
Essential
- Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience including higher surgical/medical training, three years as a Senior Registrar in an approved training post, or equivalent. Part of this period may be in a post of equivalent responsibility and training potential.
- Training in diagnosis and treatment of renal conditions and experience in medical management of patients with kidney transplants.
- Experience of Paediatric renal transplantation.
Desirable
- Out of Programme experience relevant to clinical nephrology or research in nephrology.
- A proven interest in kidney transplantation as demonstrated by evidence of service development or innovation in the field.

- Evidence of recent CME/ reasonable training progression at this stage of career.
- Experience in audit project and written up
- Knowledge of contemporary NHS management issues.
- Knowledge of political context within which we operate.
Desirable
- Completion of a general management course or programme.

- Proven teaching ability.
- Willingness to undertake teaching of medical under-graduates & postgraduates.

- Proven track record in research.
- Willingness to undertake further research.
- Ability to gain the trust and confidence of colleagues and patients.
- Evidence of relevant publications in peer reviewed journals.
- Demonstration of involvement in clinical directorate management.
