Summary:
The Minority Aids Initiative (MAI) Program Coordinator will be responsible for driving the day-to-day activities of the SAMHSA grant-funded Minority Aids Initiative project. The position will actively participate in the development and implementation of effective and quality Behavioral Health and Case Management, Community Health Worker, and Peer Support services. The position will ensure that services provided are within the guidelines of the agency’s mission and grant requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities of the MAI Program Coordinator: (Included but not limited to)
- Provide supervision for all program activities including HIV rapid testing, linkages to treatment, HIV prevention education, SUD Harm reduction, outreach, and other direct support services.
- Provide formal, individual supervision and support for assigned program staff including access to professional development, job orientation, and training, that will enhance the ethical, confidential, and respectful delivery of services to clients.
- Lead the case managers in the provision of education, case management, and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis PrEP services for high-risk HIV-negative clients.
- Ensure the provision of evidence-informed HIV Prevention Education.
- Facilitate weekly case review meetings with program staff and managers.
- Assign caseload to case management staff, monitoring caseload size.
- Coordinate patient services with medical staff.
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments as needed.
- Conduct screening interviews for patients and coordinate care plans with the medical staff.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation, including maintaining clear and precise data and case notes.
- Ensure timely collection and collation of statistical information.
- Coordinate with the Project Director to ensure the collection of GPRA reporting as required by the funder, along with other reporting requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: * Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations.

- Advanced knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality.
- Advanced knowledge of behaviors and emotions related to addiction.
- Advanced knowledge of community and referral resources for client’s diverse needs.
- Skills in documenting effective case management notes.
Education and Experience: * Bachelor’s degree (required), Master’s degree in public health or related field (preferred), RN preferred.
- At least 2 years’ experience in grant management and implementation.
- Experience with working with at-risk populations.
- Experience gathering and reporting on program data.
- Valid NM driver’s license and clean driving record (required).
- In the case of a recovering person, must have successfully maintained a two (2) year period of uninterrupted abstinence from alcohol and/or drug abuse.
