Job description

What will you be doing!
- Acting as the single point of contact for all maintenance (meaning, inspection and calibrations as well as maintenance) activities for Waste Operations.
- Acting as a sponsor, as required, for contractors hired to perform work process systems.
- Identifying tasks to be performed by qualified CNL Employees and/or Contractors, and monitor task outcome to ensure the equipment, buildings and building equipment belonging to Waste Operations are well maintained, calibrated and operable.
- Implementing and maintaining equipment and/or building labelling, tagging.
- Providing guidance on system maintenance through monitoring of system parameters and field activities to provide early warnings of degradation or breakdown and prevent unplanned downtime.
- Assisting the Operations Specialists with field data collection and compilation of asset information for data entry into the maintenance management system databases.
- Assigning tasks to implement and maintain electronic data collection in the field. This includes field labelling, hardware installation and identifying process improvements.
- Providing guidance on System Health through monitoring of field activities.
- Regularly conducting concise and accurate field walk-downs of equipment to ensure adequate operability and maintainability of equipment and resolve potential maintenance problems.
- Interfacing and monitoring the work of other departments such as Operations, Environmental Monitoring, and RP to ensure tasks are effectively scheduled.
- Maintaining meticulous records/logs of maintenance activities for Waste Management Operations.
- Identifying appropriate level of documentation and prepare corresponding work plan.
- Identifying related procedures/manuals and appropriate references in work plan.
- Recommending substitutions for equipment or components.
- Ensuring procurement of materials and equipment.
- Estimating and procuring materials.
- Preparing purchase requisitions.
What we are looking for:
- Graduation from an Institute of Technology or equivalent, with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in industrial maintenance or construction, including two years of supervisory experience Or successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship and having a Certified Electrician or Millwright license and a minimum of 7 years pertinent technical experience as a journeyman plus 2 years supervisory experience.
- Must have experience with selecting and specifying process equipment relevant to CRL facilities and maintenance management practices.
- Must be familiar with business software such as E-mail, MS Word, MS Excel.
- Demonstrated organization and planning skills; ability to establish priorities; define action plans; set and meet deadlines; monitor performance.
- Good working understanding of electro-mechanical principles.
- High standards of work ethic and excellent workmanship.
- Good communication skills in English (verbal and written).
- Must demonstrate the ability to assume responsibilities as described above.
- Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings and interpret complex construction drawings.
- Ability to communication effectively both verbally and in writing.
- A willingness to undergo additional training appropriate to the position, e.g., Computers, quality assurance, applicable codes, supervisory and team building skills.
- Knowledgeable in reading schematic prints for electrical, P&IDs, PLC logic; Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Good working understanding of electro-mechanical principles.
- An up to date working knowledge of all applicable company and general safety regulations, procedures and union agreements.
- Must be able to understand and possess a working knowledge of the Work Management Software.
- Must have an up-to-date working knowledge of all applicable company and general safety regulations and procedures.
Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.
