IntroductionThe In-House Services team aims to deliver a comfortable, safe and efficient environment for Members, their staff and staff of the House to work in; as well as providing a welcoming and functional environment for all visitors to Parliament.Parliamentary Maintenance Services Team (PMST), within In House Services (IHS), consists of approximately 115 in-house staff and many contractors who maintain the Parliamentary estates (Commons & Lords) buildings, engineering systems and furnishings to ensure a fully functioning, safe working environment, equipped for the demands of the 21st century. And, what an estate it is. Consisting of buildings that range from the historic Palace of Westminster to the modern Portcullis House, it’s located within a UNESCO World Heritage site and spans four conservation areas.The RoleThe post holder will primarily manage areas of electrical compliance such as Electrical Test & Inspection PAT testing programmes Emergency Lighting inspections and other planned maintenance and associated repairs to the Estates Building Services Systems infrastructure, including arranging any annual statutory surveyor inspections and arranging any subsequent repairs.As such the post holder will directly manage and monitor service delivery across a range of disciplines. The following range of building service areas are presently managed by the CMO team.

  • Electrical test & inspection and PAT testing programmes
  • Pressure Systems and associated equipment (Including steam)
  • Boiler feedwater pre-treatment plant
  • Lightening Protection Systems
  • Legionella risk assessment and control scheme (Inc. open evaporative cooling
  • systems)
  • Gas safety and combustion analysis

Skills and ExperienceTo be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Experience of successfully managing planned maintenance activities linked to electrical systems testing and portable electrical appliance testing and the monitoring of service delivery/outcomes.
  • Understanding and experience of statutory compliance, safety hazards, and site/work-based

inspections within a building services function and/or construction environment.

  • Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of initiative. The post holder must be able to

operate and succeed within a complex environment where prioritisation will be essential.

  • Upon completion of the probationary period the postholder will be expected to competently use and interrogate the CAFM and BMS Systems.
