  • Responsible for the day-to-day supervision and work direction of buildings and utilities trades, crafts, trails, grounds, and janitorial facility operations.
  • Serve as Project Supervisor and park Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
  • Provide professional and technical support and knowledge on utilities, trades, and crafts such as electrical, HVAC, potable water system operation, drainage, storm and sanitary sewer systems, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, trails, grounds keeping and janitorial services.
  • Perform administrative functions for their maintenance group, such as preparing Human Resources packages for recruiting, classification, off-boarding, etc. Manages Youth Programs.
  • Review and approve payroll, leave, and extra hours requests, and scheduling.

Physical Demands: Work sites will range from office settings to outdoor temperature extremes of -10 degrees Fin the winter and +90 degrees F. The work site can be dusty, contain fumes and other hazardous materials. Subject to cuts, flying splinters and chips, and injury from power and hand tools. Employee will at times be required to wear protective equipment such as respirator, hearing protection, hard hat, clothing and eye protection and must meet physical requirements to do so. Occasionally must lift and handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to reach, stretch, bend, turn and move body, hands, arms, feet, and legs to accomplish work. Must be capable of climbing difficult trails, requiring use of both hands and both feet. Able to negotiate trails with slippery rock foot and hand holds and steep cliff exposure to potential falls.Working Conditions: During the winter season and as required, incumbent performs a variety of duties such as assisting with other maintenance work, tree and brush trimming, equipment maintenance, snow removal, and general maintenance.Area Information: Bandelier National Monument is comprised of over 32,817 acres, including a designated wilderness area of 23,267 acres and an 800-acre detached archeological section. The monument was created to preserve the numerous archeological and natural features that hold ancestral and traditional significance to 23 tribal nations. The monument’s natural resources have been extensively surveyed and hold some of the most complete data sets for climate transition that exist in North America. Annual visitation exceeds 200,000. The monument is located 45 miles from Santa Fe, 32 miles from Espanola, and 12 miles from Los Alamos. Elevation ranges from 5,300 to 10,199 feet with headquarters located at 6,000 feet. Medical facilities, schools, and shopping are available in Los Alamos and White Rock. Los Alamos has one of the nation’s best public-school systems. Cultural and recreational opportunities are abundant in Santa Fe and surrounding communities.   • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.

  • You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
  • You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver’s license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver’s licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
  • You must possess, obtain and maintain a current Class A (or higher) Commercial Driver’s License within one (1) year of EOD.
  • You must possess and maintain a current Water Treatment Operators Certificate within one (1) year of EOD, and you must be able to secure and maintain a valid New Mexico Department of Health Services Small Water Treatment Operators Certificate.
  • You must possess and maintain a current Wastewater Treatment Operators Certificate within one (1) year of EOD, and you must be able to secure and maintain a valid New Mexico Department of Health Services Level 1 Wastewater Treatment Operators Certificate.
  • You may be required to be fitted for a Respirator (Respirator Fit Test).
  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
  • If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • You may be required to travel overnight away from home. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
  • Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
  • Subject to a financial disclosure reporting requirement and you will be required to complete a new entrant Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 450) within 30 days of your appointment.
