You will work collaboratively with various internal and external core business partners to assist with valuation and operational tasks for all alternative products offered by CIBC. These could include products offered in our limited partnerships, retail mutual funds, institutional pools and exchange traded funds to ensure all valuation components, and accounting rules, are applied correctly, and that the alternative products are valued appropriately by our vender.This role requires close collaboration with our major service provider, CIBC Mellon, while implementing monitoring controls to ensure internal and external valuation/reporting policies are adhered to; thus, timely, accurate and reliable information is produced. The person in this role is expected to perform review, analysis and production of the alternative product valuations with support from the Senior Manager and Director of the Fund Valuations team.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.How you’ll succeedPreparation and reporting – Monitor the daily valuation and pricing for CIBC’s entire retail investment fund offer and prepare financial statements (annual & semi-annual basis) and month-end reporting summaries for the funds.Legislation – Ensure the distributions (interest, dividends, return on capital, etc.) to clients are accurate and that all tax reporting is completed on time. Also ensure that all funds are able to invest and meet local market requirements related to taxation and market documentation.Process improvements – Support the business in product enhancements and new product launches.Who you areYou can demonstrate 5 to 8 years of experience in Investment Fund Accounting experience, ideally in the Asset Management industry. You have knowledge of securities products and valuation including derivatives.You have a degree/diploma in a relevant field of study (Business management/Accounting etc.). It is an asset if you have or are working towards a professional accounting designation.You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information.
