Typically manages and oversees supervisors and/or hourly/professional jobs and responsible for setting the overall direction for employees.Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?The successful incumbent will provide leadership to facilitate the process of reporting financial information accurately and in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles for source and General Ledger systems. He/She will provide financial expertise on new and existing system development, ensure timely responses to business units achieving the overall goal of product development and system implementation. The position requires interaction with the Insurance division business partners on a daily basis to ensure that new products and systems reflect the product offerings in financial terms. The incumbent will coordinate the workflow of their direct reports, providing guidance, training and coaching for staff to maximize their full potential within their job functions.What will you do?
- Participate in the planning, managing, monitoring & execution of assigned finance technology projects for all Insurance source applications. Partner with Insurance businesses (RBC Client Services, RBC Claims, RBC Producer Admin and RBC Insurance Finance) to ensure all product/process initiatives (eg. new product launch) are compliant with Finance operating principles and procedures
- Represent Finance and Finance Operations, sponsors continuous financial process automation initiatives within the Treasury function of Insurance
- Represent RBCI and be point of Contact with RBC Bank Relationship Manager, along with Moneris and American Express
- Identify and prioritize process improvement opportunities, create strong internal controls, follow and support project management methodologies to see initiatives from inception through to implementation
- Full impact assessment of new initiatives (internal or external), including upstream and downstream processes where there is a financial impact
- Provides financial expertise on new and existing system development, achieving the overall goal of product development and system implementation
- Investigate and deliver expertise, training and development support including reporting to the Finance area
What will you need to succeed?
- An Accounting designation is preferred
- 5+ years experience with multiple system and product management, 5 years in Life Insurance Industry with high focus on UL products
- Excellent communication with peers, sub-ordinates and superiors
- Extensive knowledge of business functions, policy settlement, claims, compensation, reinsurance and administration of policy life cycle, gained through a combination of progressive experience on the job and related work experience at a management level
- Multiple skill set required – accounting, systems application and trouble shooter, Life Insurance knowledge and strong analytical skills
- Familiarity with Peoplesoft, Insurance admin systems (incl Ingenium, FASAT, Inspro, Bedrock, AS400, Capsils), WebFocus
