Applies complete knowledge, skills, and practices to perform assignments.Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?The RBC Credit Strategy team is hiring for a Manager – Cards Credit Strategy & Data Science. You will use advanced analytics to develop credit strategies to grow RBC revenue and manage risk to ultimately optimize portfolio profitability. This includes experimental design, profitability modelling, data mining, analytics, and machine learning. The successful candidate will be responsible to take initiatives through the various phases of ideation, analysis, recommendation for approval and implementation.What will you do?
- Use data mining, profitability modelling and business intuition to inform lending decisions for cards acquisition credit programs
- Optimize the profitability of RBC’s retail credit card portfolio by analyzing, designing, and recommending credit strategies
- Generate learnings to enhance credit strategies using Design of Experiments (DOE), Foundational Testing, Challenger/Champion and other testing methodologies
- Lead end-to-end stakeholder engagement with senior management across risk management, product, operations and other groups
- Support the implementation and ongoing integrity of credit strategies within appropriate systems (e.g. Pathfinder, TRIAD)
- Build financial models to simulate financial outcomes of strategy decisions, measure true outcomes against expectations and drive continuous improvement from findings
- Test new methodologies and tools to enhance models and strategies, and drive innovation within credit strategy frameworks and infrastructure
What do you need to succeed?Must-have
- 3+ years of progressive analytics experience, preferably performing advanced risk analytics and strategy design for lending products
- Expert problem solving skills including understanding of credit risk fundamentals and financial modelling
- Proficient in SQL, Excel, SAS, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with modern analytical tools and technology stacks; Python, GitHub, AWS, HDFS, etc.
- Experience with Data Visualization tools such as Python (Matplotlib, Plotly, Seaborn) and Tableau
- Ability to develop effective and collaborative relationships (e.g. with stakeholders, credit bureaus, and remote teams)
- Ability to design and deliver compelling presentations to senior management and other stakeholders
- Proven experience in delivering high quality and accurate work with the ability to multitask and shift priorities
Nice-to-have
- People leadership experience leading a team of high performing analysts
- Experience with adaptive control software (e.g. TRIAD, Probe) and credit scoring technologies
- Equally effective and conversant in business and technical environments
- University degree in a quantitative field of study (e.g. statistics, engineering, economics, finance, computer science)
- 3+ years of direct role-related experience
