The Position:
This is a dual reporting position with a synergistic portfolio resulting in a 60/40 time split as follows:
- 60% of time is dedicated to supporting the student-facing aspects of EDIB programming development and implementation – reporting to ED, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, & Belonging; AND
- 40% of time is dedicated to work in supporting students, mentors and ongoing program development and implementation for the Global Learning & Leading Diploma Program – reporting to Vice Principal, Experiential Education & Innovation.
Specific Accountabilities:
The Manager will be responsible for the following in their EDIB portfolio:
- Support the planning and implementation of weekly/monthly activities and events for cultural days of significance throughout the academic year
- Support the work of student groups and the faculty and staff who are leading student programs that promote equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (e.g. Affinity Groups & Alliances)
- Coordinate and implement student programming that promotes education on equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging for students, including planning and delivering Form/Advisory and Grade based programming
- Support teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum-based programming related to EDIB principles and issues
- Assist in the school’s work around Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Being and Doing through student programming, including reviewing land acknowledgements for Prayers and other student events
- Coordinate inter-school events and activities, (conferences and monthly meetings related to elements of EDIB (eg. inter-school affinity groups and alliance gatherings – GSA, BSAN etc.)
The Manager will be responsible for the following in their Global Learning portfolio:
- This role is responsible for the management of the Global Learning and Leading Diploma (GLLD) management:
- Create and deliver student-centered programming for the GLLD
- Create a robust mentoring program for the GLLD
- Collaborate with faculty in the design and delivery of modules
- Responsible for the application and selection of students into the program
- Assessing the outcomes of the Global Learning and Leading Diploma program and seeking out opportunities for growth
- UNESCO programming and membership curation
- Annual report on the GLLD and UNESCO
- Support the school in highlighting and honouring the UNESCO Days of Significance
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
- Relevant university qualifications at the Bachelor level;
- A minimum of 3 years of exemplary and related experience in teaching or other student-focused program delivery;
- Experience, knowledge and education specific to equity, diversity, and inclusion programs;
- Experience, knowledge and education specific to global programming;
- Experience working with students grades 7-12; experience working with students grades 1-6 an asset;
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience in interacting with diverse stakeholders and navigating complex situations;
- Strong organizational, program-planning, time-management and communication skills;
- Able to work in a self-directed manner and respond appropriately to changing needs;
- Experience aligning and implementing programs throughout an organization;
- Experience in an independent school is an asset.
