Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?This is a terrific opportunity to join RBC’s Enterprise Performance Management Finance team where you will provide value-added strategic financial advice to senior leadership in a fast paced, high profile group.The Enterprise Performance Management team provides the CFO, Group Executive, and the Board of Directors with insightful and timely advice and analysis to support and influence decision making. Through value-added advice, we enable early identification of opportunities and issues, and make actionable strategic recommendations that support long-term bank performance.You will work closely with leaders across all platforms to enhance Enterprise Performance Management capabilities and drive continuous improvement. You will have the opportunity to develop strong relationships with colleagues across a diverse set of stakeholders including RBC’s Business Segments, Financial Resource Optimization, Group Risk Management, Corporate Treasury, Functions, Technology & Operations, and Finance Shared Services.You will deliver high quality work that is produced efficiently within tight timelines. You will support key RBC enterprise priorities while establishing, monitoring, and maintaining effective plans and controls to ensure that they are completed on time. You will work closely with and support the Senior Director, Enterprise Performance Management, in addition to the broader team, in successfully delivering on a challenging portfolio of projects and initiatives.What will you do?
- Assist in managing the forecast and planning process, including the annual Operating Plan and 5 year outlook for the Corporate Support segment. Partner with the Corporate Tax, Corporate Treasury, Functions, and Technology and Operations teams to prepare and submit forecast Balance Sheet and P&L for Corporate Support
- Contribute to the reporting of actual results for the Corporate Support segment; coordinate with sub-segments of Corporate Support to prepare daily earnings estimate during the monthly/quarterly close cycle
- Support the Enterprise PM team with the preparation of reporting packages to the Board/Group Executive/CFO Operating Committee, covering monthly/quarterly operating results, Annual Operating Plan and the 5 year outlook
- Support the Enterprise PM team with FTP related analysis, and enhance documentation and controls surrounding the FTP mechanisms.
- Assist in the analysis and development of proposed solutions for the FTP mechanisms for new and existing business processes. Work closely with key business segment platforms and Corporate Treasury.
- Responsible for the consolidation and reporting of specific RBC quarterly earnings documents which are reviewed by the CFO and CFO Operating Committee; coordinate with all business segments to receive their inputs and commentary in a timely and impactful manner
- Prepare comprehensive financial trend reports for all business segments and their lines of businesses on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis; required for monthly/quarterly actual results, as well as all relevant forecasting/planning periods
- Drive operational efficiencies and optimize processes to enhance Enterprise Performance Management effectiveness
- Own ad hoc projects as required by the CFO and SVP Enterprise Finance
What do you need to succeed?Must Have
- Undergraduate degree (preferably in business/accounting/finance) with 3+ years of relevant finance experience; or closely related functional experience
- Solid multi-tasking capabilities, with the ability to work under pressure with conflicting priorities
- Strong attention-to-detail, with the ability to question and challenge information for integrity
- Strong analytical capabilities
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and Cognos TM1
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to successfully provide insightful ad hoc requests on a short notice
Nice to have
- Professional Designations: CPA, CA, CMA (or international equivalent); CFA
- Proven record in successfully influencing and implementing change
- Strong understanding of business drivers of performance and related outcome measures
- Previous experience in a fast-paced work environment supporting Senior leaders
- Superior financial modelling skills
