What is the opportunity?
RBC Global Asset Management (GAM) is looking for a Manager, Finance in Toronto, ON. This position reports to the Senior Manager, GAM Finance, and will provide financial accounting, reporting, analysis, and ad-hoc project support. Using advanced knowledge of financial concepts, this position will help ensure the accuracy of GAM’s financial results, and also support senior management in developing financial expectations.
What will you do?
- Ensure that RBC GAM results are accurately reflected in the financial systems on a timely basis
- Prepare and review complex journal entries, supporting schedules, seed capital consolidation etc. as required
- Maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations with supporting documentation, respond to inquiries regarding financial statement accounts
- Contribute to the analysis and reporting of financial results, prepare commentary and in-depth analysis for ad-hoc requests from senior management
- Assist with annual audit process for GAM¬ working directly with custodians and auditors, and monthly and quarterly support to regulatory reporting teams
- Assist Senior Manager with updating forecast, annual operating Plan, and five-year outlook in finance systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, increase efficiency and automation. Ensure policies and procedures support an appropriate internal control environment
- Other projects, duties and responsibilities as assigned
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- An Accounting Designation (i.e. CPA, CA)
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong financial accounting and reporting skills
- Extensive experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products, with an emphasis on Excel, including the use of vlookups and pivot tables
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to interpret and make recommendations
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
- High level of attention to detail and able to meet deadlines
Nice-to-have
- Financial Services industry experience with knowledge of the asset management industry
- Tableau, PeopleSoft and EPM (IBM TM1) experience
