Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?Major Initiatives is a regulatory-focused section within the Capital Markets Chief Operating Office (COO) business. This is led by the Business Transformation (BT) team which manages major regulatory reform within the Capital Markets business.The role will require finance advisory as a strategic co-pilot to the COO BT team and for each large program. This opportunity will appeal to individuals who want to work in a fast-paced area that has significant visibility and a high profile across RBC (especially within Capital Markets). You must have an appetite for working in a forward looking and innovative environment, thrive on challenges, want to over-achieve and make a real difference with the business.What will you do?Prepare financial insights for the head of Major Initiatives and the Regulatory Review Board to enable strategic decisions on investments, hiring and cost management. This spans both departmental expenditures as well as financial insights and advisory to the group’s interactions with other CM businesses on a recurring basis.Further enhance and build on Finance’s internal capabilities in cost reporting to proliferate learnings and best practices across CM Finance’s Advisory teams.Building subject matter expertise on all cost lines and opportunities that can be used to further support cost saving initiatives.Responsible for the financial governance, reporting, controllership and advisory to CM Major Initiatives. This includes a deep understanding of the allocation to the front office.Proliferate the use of technologies such as Tableau and automation to create scale and standardization across projects.Support the Project Management Office and represent CM CFO across these programs by helping to create materials for their governance forums (e.g. Steering Committees, Executive Committees).Support the development of PAR Financials and analysis of proposed business cases for CM to ensure alignment with CM priorities.Provide line of sight and business case review for COO sponsored initiatives.Perform select month end close activities and assist in the preparation of transit financial plan for select COO Functions areas and monitoring variances to forecast.What do you need to succeed?Must-haveUndergraduate degree with 2+ years of relevant work experienceExperience in complex wholesale business activity, management reporting and analysis, and/or financial resource optimization (capital, funding, and liquidity)Experience in management reporting and analysis, stakeholder interactions and relationship managementMicrosoft Excel and PowerPoint Presentation skills with data mining and ability to explore new technologies to enhance the delivery of financial informationKeen sense of numbers and strong analytical skills with ability to multitask and handle high-pressure executive level requests on a continuous basisNice-to-havePursuing CPA or CFA designationExperience and good understanding of bank structure, risk management concepts, financial markets and instrumentsExperience in financial modelling including understanding of statistics, risk or other quantitative metricsWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, thinking progressively to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
