About the teamDeloitte’s Compliance and Operational Risk (C&OR) team is a highly connected market offering embedded within the Risk Advisory Business looking to continually grow, innovate, and offer quality and innovation to our clients. We help clients in non-financial service industries, safeguard stakeholder interests by proactively managing risk related to external regulations, commitments and standards enabling long term success and sustainable growth.We focus on strategic support for clients with:

  • Compliance – management of external regulations, corporate commitments, and internal standards and policies
  • Operational Risk – Strengthening first and second line of defense processes for health and safety, operational resilience, and asset integrity.

What will your typical day look like?As a Manager on the Compliance & Operational Risk team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering compliance and operational risk-related client projects while growing professionally as a leader, team builder, subject matter expert, and business advisor. You will have the opportunity to be a strategic thinker and use your project management skills to further develop client relationships and foster team growth and professional development. Your key responsibilities will include:Client Relationships & Business Development:

  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs and challenges.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing and potential client accounts.
  • Lead client meetings, presentations, and proposal development to secure new engagements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute business development strategies and initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing insights and recommendations on non-financial compliance and operational risk matters.

Project Management & Delivery:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple client projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Develop project plans, project budget, allocate resources, and manage project teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of project deliverables, adhering to Firm and industry standards and best practices.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to clients and senior management on project status and outcomes.
  • Propose and develop tailored, risk-based strategies that align with client objectives and regulatory requirements to improve client’s business operations.
  • Lead complex regulatory compliance reviews and advisory projects to help clients enhance their control frameworks.
  • Assist organizations in identifying and mitigating their organizational and operational risks and challenges through reviews and assessment of existing controls management system, processes, organizational structures and more to optimally manage risks.

People Management & Coaching:

  • Contribute to the development and growth of a team of consultants and senior consultants, fostering a collaborative, engaged, and efficient work environment.
  • Partake in regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional growth and development of consultants and senior consultants.
  • Identify training and development needs within the team and facilitate relevant learning opportunities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging team members to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Manage team workload and resource allocation to ensure optimal productivity and client satisfaction, while promoting and supporting the psychological health and safety of all team members.

Practice Growth & Professional Development:

  • Contribute to the growth and development of the Compliance and Operational Risk Practice by identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks.
  • Participate in thought leadership activities, including writing articles, presenting at conferences, and conducting webinars.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new service offerings and enhance existing ones.
  • Support the development and implementation of practice-wide initiatives and strategic goals.

Enough about us, let’s talk about youAs a Manager, you have:

  • 5 – 10 years of professional experience in one or more of the following industries: Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT), Power, Utilities & Renewables, Mining & Metals, Energy & Chemicals, Manufacturing, and Government and Public Sector.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a consulting or client-facing role, with a focus on the TMT sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in:
  • Corporate compliance and/or regulatory compliance fields, with a strong understanding of industry-specific regulatory frameworks and requirements (e.g., ISO).
  • Compliance and/or operational risk program strategy and transformational initiatives between business units and corporate risk and compliance functions.
  • Designing and implementing compliance and /or operational risk programs, including the use of compliance and/or operational risk management software (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Program and/or project management, particularly for technology implementations using top analyst-rated third-party software.
  • Previous experience with a regulatory body would be an asset.

Additionally, we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate or master’s degree in engineering, law, public policy development, environmental or related science, or occupational health and safety.
  • Strong understanding of non-financial compliance and operational risk management principles.
  • Proven track record of successful project management and delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills in English; French an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • A willingness to travel (20% of total time) within Canada, the United States and, on selected occasions, overseas, if required.
  • The ability to enter the USA and work on client assignments is an asset.
  • The ability to enter the EU and other developed countries is an asset.

Total RewardsThe salary range for this position is $104,000 – $173,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
