We are currently looking for a Manager – Payroll and Benefits to join our Laval team.
Your Role
Nordia is seeking a seasoned and strategic Payroll and Benefits Manager to lead our payroll and benefits operations in Canada. The successful candidate will be a key contributor in the transformation of the payroll department as we embark on the implementation of a new Human Capital Management software (HCMS). This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering a positive employee experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assimilating and overseeing the current administration of payroll and benefits programs, and provide insights and recommendations for optimizing the organization’s payroll and benefits structure. Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing
- Oversee the end-to-end payroll process ensuring compliance with federal and provincial legislation and accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for a team of 4000+ employees.
- Stay current with changes in Canadian payroll legislation and ensure company compliance.
- Collaborate with the human resources department to apply any salary agreements or compensation changes, as well as the application of the terms of collective agreements.
- Produce the end of year declaration and payroll tax forms.
- Participate in payroll audit procedures when required.
Benefits administration
- Manage and optimize employee benefits programs including health insurance and retirement plans.
- Provide cost analysis on the plans and identify opportunities for cost savings
Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of payroll specialists, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Foster a collaborative and customer-focused culture within the department.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in payroll procedures and implement solutions to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Gain proficiency of HCMS and collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll data while fostering a comprehensive and integrated approach.
- Stay current with the functionalities of our new HCMS, ensuring optimal utilization for payroll, benefits and related processes.
- Collaboration with the IT team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to HCMS functionality.
- Ensure data integrity in any payroll-related systems.
- Ensure proper security measures are in place to ensure protection of personal information.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field
- Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in leading a payroll and benefits team
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and regulations
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills (French & English)
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
