Our culture is a key differentiator and one we are proud of.The opportunityThe Manager, Pension Payments, oversees all functions related to the delivery of pension benefit payment services at CWB Trust Services. The role leads the monthly delivery of pension payroll to over 10,000 pensioners; a number that will continue to grow. As the primary SME of pension benefit administration, the role operates under minimal direction while leading a team of 3-5 pension administrators. Primary accountabilities include establishing and growing a formal Pension Benefit Payments team and the delivery of accurate and timely pension benefit payment operations to ensure client satisfaction and continued growth of the business. The role provides oversight and leadership of their teams, including coaching and training ensuring regulatory compliance.What you’ll be doingPension Administration

  • Oversees the Pension administration function, ensuring timely payment and appropriate controls and compliance within CWT policies and standards.
  • Ensure key account reconciliations, processes and procedures are maintained on a timely and accurate basis by the Pension Benefits team to ensure financial integrity.
  • Develop and maintain all pension administration processes/procedures and documentation, focusing on best practice, compliance, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Lead a variety of payroll related activities such as payroll reconciliation, tax filings, annual CPI adjustments, etc.,
  • Engage with pension administrators to ensure accurate calculations of pension payments.

Policy Implementation, Reporting, Operations

  • Maintain and develop robust policies and procedures to ensure high levels of client service, while maintaining regulatory and internal requirements and low levels of risk to the organisation.
  • Drive operational efficiencies to ensure the business can continue to scale without impacting service delivery.
  • Ensure that the confidentiality of the Trust and its customers is maintained by routinely securing all documentation.
  • Act as the primary SME on all pension benefits related items to provide recommendations to Sr leadership on policy and procedure implementation.
  • Lead fiscal year-end analysis and reconciliations and interact with internal and external auditors to provide substance and clarity to decisions made by the team regarding accounts and statements within the scope of responsibility

People LeadershipSupervise and oversee daily operations and performance of the Pension Benefits team. * Provide leadership and direction to the Pension Benefits team to optimize staff performance and build professional capacity through effective recruiting, selection, development, mentoring/coaching, goal setting and on-going performance management and evaluation.

  • Coach the team and create opportunities for personal and career development.
  • Maintain proactive liaison with external agencies that support the business with expertise in payroll and pension benefits management.

Who we’re looking for & what you’ve doneProfessional Knowledge

  • College/ University Degree with a strong focus in Business Administration or Finance, or a related program.
  • PCP from the Canadian Payroll Association.
  • RPA, CEBS designation.

Professional Experience

  • 5+ years experience in pension administration, accounting, or payroll.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of direct experience in a supervisory role.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skillset.
