Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As a Manager, Reconciliations Finance, you will ensure the effective design and preparation of reconciliations to support the integrity of the financial statements. You will operate as part of a team to ensure timely reconciliation design and preparation. Comparing different data sets, the role will work through an information life cycle to identify, investigate, escalate and support resolution of breaks and reconciliation issues. You will be collaborating with various stakeholders across the bank.What you will do?

  • Responsible for the design and preparation of reconciliations and attestations per prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while applying solid knowledge of the operations, its procedures and systems to the reconciliations process
  • Document SOPs for new reconciliations
  • Ensure true breaks are identified and reported and items that represent a potential concern are escalated immediately
  • Resolve aged unreconciled items through investigation, analytics, using data, tools and enquiry
  • Display good judgment and decision-making skills in dealing with breaks and reporting
  • Work with various stakeholders relating to various reconciliation functions and provide support to other pertaining to their reconciliations where needed
  • Do peer reviews on other reconciliations prepared by the team
  • Use new and existing tools to automate and recommend solutions for data ingestion, analytics and visualization to create efficiencies in the reconciliation preparation process to reduce lead time
  • Demonstrate flexibility to assume ad hoc work outside of the general reconciliation process
  • Create monthly and ad hoc statistic reporting
  • Creating and posting journal entries where necessary
  • Support ad hoc requests pertaining to the broader financial control team

What you need to succeed?Must-have

  • Finance graduate or post-graduate or professional designations such as. MBA, CA, CFA.
  • Finance background with experience in reconciliations and or financial reporting. Strong skills commonly associated with accounting designations
  • 3+ years of experience with an accounting focused or similar reconciliation role
  • Willingness to collaborate and build strong relationships across business functions
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel / Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to collaborate and build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of Insurance products / operations, familiar with insurance accounting, together with willingness and interest to develop that knowledge
  • Data visualization experience (preference in Tableau and/or Power BI)
