- Overseeing CNL’s real estate and property management portfolio, including master planning, space allocation, and stewardship of common amenities and services, with a long-term focus (5+ years).
- Liaising with and supplying data to the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) assessment in support of AECL efforts to interact with the municipalities.
- Preparing briefing notes, studies, analyses, reports, data, and presentations related to the entirety of CNL’s real estate portfolio.
- Translating the CNL real estate strategy, based on key planning documents (e.g., 10-Year Plan), into real-estate focused plans (e.g., Site Master Plan) and tactical plans for site real property assets.
- Developing and implementing institutional processes, guidelines, and standards to ensure site planning efforts align with CNL’s established missions, objectives, strategic plans, and regulatory requirements.
- Leading, organizing, and coordinating CNL’s efforts to analyze, develop, maintain, and implement campus master plans for CNL’s main campus and other CNL-owned property, as needed.
- Providing direction for the ongoing review and maintenance of processes, procedures, standards, data, and information related to CNL’s management of the real estate portfolio and overall site configuration control in accordance with CNL’s governance and site operation licenses.

- Supporting team members in creating and implementing personalized development plans, proactively seeking developmental opportunities throughout the organization.
- Providing oversight and strategic direction to the workplace design function to ensure the use of space is productive and an efficient use of real property.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- A degree from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and experience in a discipline relevant to urban planning, project management, engineering, applied/building sciences, business or commerce and an excellent track record for leading large projects to successful conclusion.
- One of the following designations: Registered Professional Planner (RPP), Certified Planner (AICP), Certified Urban Planner (CUP), LEED Accredited Professional in Neighborhood Development (LEEP AP ND), American Planning Association (APA), and Certified Real Estate Development Professional (CREDP).
- Experience
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible project experience, or equivalent combination of management/supervisory experience, in a senior or lead project capacity.
- Demonstrated experience in applying project management knowledge areas (Scope, Cost, Time, QA, Communications, Human Resources, Risk, Procurement, and Integration).
- An understanding of Urban Planning Principles and environmental regulations and standards.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of the interrelationship of the outputs and interdependencies of those functions engaged in providing project activities, project management, and review processes.
- Proven initiative, motivation, and good people skills to work with peers and internal and external customers in a team environment.
- Ability to operate in a domain characterized by aggressive objectives, competing interests, and legal obligations.
- Highly self-disciplined and performs well under sustained pressure.
- Excellent management and organizational ability and team-building and consensus-reaching skills.
- Extensive knowledge of strategic planning, human resources, and people management processes.
- Strong general management skills, including planning, budgeting, resourcing, time management, negotiation skills, contract management and administration, and progress reporting for an executive audience.
- Facility Management and urban planning experience is an asset, as is a broad knowledge of the tools and capabilities needed to assess risk and performance in the group’s day-to-day activities.
- Ability to demonstrate political savvy and use considerable judgment when evaluating the impact of decisions on the project’s scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- Work site visits are required, requiring the use of all applicable safety equipment and absolute adherence to safe work policies/practices, radiation protection policies/practices and any other CNL safety requirements as mandated by the organization.
