  • Leadership and Team Management:
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of professionals, planners, and administrative staff.
  • Fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages innovation and teamwork.
  • Conducting regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Process Development:
  • Interpreting and ensuring compliance with national and international nuclear waste regulations.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining company-wide processes and procedures related to waste management in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting self-assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of processes and ensuring adherence to policies.
  • Training and Communication:
  • Designing and delivering comprehensive training programs to educate staff on waste management procedures, regulations, and best practices.
  • Developing clear and concise communication materials to disseminate key information across the organization.
  • Organizing workshops and seminars to promote awareness of nuclear waste management standards and policies.
  • Assurance Activities:
  • Implementing assurance activities, including audits and assessments, to monitor compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Analyzing and reporting on assurance findings, recommending corrective actions and strategies for improvement.
  • Collaborating with delivery organizations to ensure alignment with implemented processes and procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement and Best Practices:
  • Maintaining ongoing relationships with industry experts, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to stay current on best practices and emerging trends in waste management.
  • Facilitating sharing lessons learned and best practices across all sites to enhance performance and compliance.
  • Developing metrics and benchmarks to measure the progress and effectiveness of waste management initiatives.
  • Strategic Planning and Reporting:
  • Contributing to developing strategic plans for waste management initiatives within the organization.
  • Preparing and presenting reports to senior management on waste management performance, compliance status, and improvement initiatives.
  • Identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies and leading projects aimed at enhancing overall waste management practices.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • University Degree in a related field.
  • Project Management Qualification is considered an asset.
  • Change Management Qualification is considered an asset.
  • Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading diverse teams and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Managerial experience is a prerequisite.
  • Demonstrated success in leading multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
  • Experience in Nuclear Waste Management, Radiation Protection, Waste Characterization, and/or Regulatory Affairs.
  • Experience interpreting regulations and developing standards and companywide management system documents.
  • Experience with the delivery of successful technical training programs to diverse audiences.
  • Project Management experience is an asset.
  • Experience interacting regularly with customer representatives, stakeholders, suppliers, and Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) spell it out staff.
  • Change management experience, effectively navigating transitions and driving organizational improvements.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proven initiative, motivation, and good people skills to work with peers and internal and external clients.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop technical and non-technical plans and strategies in support of Waste Management Function scope.
  • Must be capable of assessing and evaluating complex technical situations/requirements, recommending appropriate strategies and influencing outcomes effectively.
  • Proven record of seeking and implementing improved processes and work methods while ensuring quality and service.
  • Broad knowledge of the applications and advancement of end-state development in the Canadian nuclear industry.
  • Ability to provide exceptional internal and external communications with key stakeholders.
  • Expertise in business writing, including Program documents, Memos and briefings, Presentation materials, and Staff training materials.
  • Proven ability to nurture and maintain constructive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Skilled in managing customer/client expectations and satisfaction throughout project execution.
  • Strong ability to make strategic decisions that balance technical, business, and regulatory requirements within set timelines.
  • Effective at building consensus among diverse groups to achieve objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver impactful presentations to various audiences, both internal and external.
  • Established networks with industry peers to remain informed about current best practices and cutting-edge technologies.
  • Proven track record of identifying and implementing improved processes and work methods while ensuring high standards of quality and service.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional demands to address urgent operational matters that may require overtime or working extended hours to meet requirements.
  • On-call status may be required under special circumstances.
  • Travel is limited to attending workshops, assessment of sites, training opportunities, or industry meetings for employee development.
