Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?An exciting opportunity to join the Wholesale (Capital Markets) Finance team. The Manager, Wholesale Financial Control, will act as the subject matter expert and key point of contact for the Corporate Lending Canada business and the Capital Markets Provision for Credit Loss process, with the objective of delivering timely, accurate and reliable financial information. The manager will support the internal and external reporting, disclosure requirements and control framework, as well as seek opportunities to streamline existing processes and participate in ah-hoc projects, while liaising and collaborating with various stakeholders across the Enterprise.What will you do?

  • Responsible for ensuring the accurate and complete Financial and Regulatory Reporting of Wholesale Finance results, specifically related to Corporate Lending Canada businesses, along with the Capital Markets Provision for Credit Loss process.
  • Oversee the monthly General Ledger (GL) data, financial results and variances related to Corporate Lending Canada to ensure accuracy, including monitoring of allocations and other intergroup activities.
  • Responsible for the reporting and detailed analysis related to the Capital Markets Provision for Credit Loss process, including general ledger reconciliations and financial reporting templates.
  • Provide meaningful analysis of financial results to ensure accurate external reporting, including MD&A, B/S, P&L, note disclosures, regulatory reporting & supplemental formats.
  • Maintenance of the monthly review program to ensure financial controls are in place and the appropriate reconciliations are completed. Ensure that global policies and procedures are adhered to by all stakeholders, including Product Control, Operations, and Head Office Financial & Regulatory Reporting to ensure consistency and adequacy of reconciliations.
  • Assist in the investigation of all financial and regulatory reporting matters related to Corporate Lending Canada and Capital Markets Provision for Credit Loss. Maintain technical knowledge and keep abreast of all new IFRS accounting developments.
  • Assist in the coordination with Accounting Policy / Front Office for new transactions / entities / issuances and support the operational execution and implementation of new accounting standards. Assess related financial reporting impact, coordinate and execute implementation plan.
  • Responsible to ensure new products and new transactions are appropriately captured in RBC Financial Reporting Systems, including the appropriate use of GLs and Financial Statement reporting lines.
  • Ensure SOX and RBC EUC documentation compliance and completeness including new controls / process.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as directed by Associate Director, Wholesale Finance.

What do you need to succeed?Must-have

  • CPA designation. This mandate is highly dependent on using analytical and financial reporting skills commonly associated with accounting designations.
  • Knowledge of complex financial instruments and transactions relating to loans and securities, together with a willingness and interest in developing that knowledge.
  • Technical competence in relevant financial and statutory accounting standards, specifically in IFRS 9.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to handle large data sets.
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills.
  • Strong team building skills and work ethics.

Nice to Have

  • Strong knowledge of RBC financial systems.
  • Experience in managing Corporate Loan Book or Provision for Credit Loss processes
