Listed on London Stock Exchange; Member of the FTSE 250 Index.OVERVIEWWe are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Materials Scientist to join our team at Morgan Advanced Materials, a leader in the development and manufacturing of advanced technical ceramics. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advancing our R&D efforts, focusing on the design, characterization, and optimization of ceramic materials for high-performance applications across various industries. Responsibilities:
- Provide the key materials science expertise into development programmes to enhance material, process, or product performance
- Support the definition and planning of technology development programmes to achieve success.
- To design, organise and carry out material development, production and processing trials at laboratory, pilot and production scales.
- Support with recruitment for technical employees and building links with technology contacts both within and external to the Morgan portfolio.
- To peer review others work to maintain technical standards
- Support and enhance the company’s commitment to the highest standards of Health and Safety and ensure all policies are adhered to during daily working.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues that may arise in the manufacturing process or products.
- Create and maintain detailed process development documentation to company standards.
Qualifications:Requirements:
- Educated to degree level or higher in Materials Science or a closely related scientific field. A PhD degree or equivalent is desirable.
- Candidates with proven experience and expertise with ceramic processing is desirable.
- Ability to self-manage and work well in a fast-paced collaborative team environment.
- Practical experience in a lab-based environment including structural and physical characterization e.g. mechanical testing, X-ray diffraction, surface analysis, microscopy etc
- Able to prioritize and delegate work according to business need and technical strategy
- Proven ability to design and conduct experiments, analyse data, and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Familiarity with materials modelling and simulation software is a plus.
- Experience with project management and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Leadership or supervisory experience is advantageous
