Your role will be pivotal in creating a safe, welcoming environment for patients and families.Main duties of the jobThe Neonatal Matron works in partnership with the Care Group Leader, GM and HON ensuring that divisional and corporate objectives in relation to the workforce, service delivery, clinical quality and safety and financial control are monitored and maintained.The post holder will be responsible for leading and managing the nursing and support staff within the department to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service are delivered with a safe staff skill mix and within budget.The Neonatal Matron plays a key role in the operational management of the unit and engaging with network partners to adopt a proactive approach in managing patient flow throughout the SL network and beyond.To promote and engage a positive, open and transparent culture, to support and enable the delivery of the Trust Strategic Objectives.About usSt George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey.Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021.   • Registered General Nurse, Registered Midwife or Registered Children’s Nurses
  • Degree in nursing/health related or working towards it. Evidence of recent continuing education.
  • A recognised Neonatal Qualification
  • Management and leadershio Training

  • Educated to Masters Level appropriate to the profession
  • Counselling qualification

ExperienceEssential

  • Current experience as a Band 7 on a tertiary level Unit or Matron/manager in a level 2 unit
  • Experince of resource and budget management
  • Proven team management, managerial and professional competence
  • Experience of gathering and interpreting patient experience data and implementing measurable improvement plans
  • Experience of audit and other benchmarking strategies, using the result of interim change and improvement

  • Change management experience

SkillsEssential

  • Models excellent clinical skills and has the ability to implement these in practice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to take accountability for service delivery within a context of safe patient care.
