JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Senior MEAL Officer, the MEAL Assistant supports data collection, consolidation, and reporting to ensure data from communities and facilities are collected and compiled regularly; implements and monitors community complaints and feedback mechanisms. The MEAL Assistant mainly works on recording and monitoring feedback, ensuring that the feedback mechanisms loop is closed, and that clients are informed of decisions taken.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor MEAL standards and tools are in place and being implemented at the field level while communicating any issues or in efficiencies to the MEAL coordinator/Officer in a timely and proactive manner;
- Undertake regular field visits to assist field staff with data reporting issues.
- Assist in training staff on monitoring checklists and guidelines to measure the performance and track progresses.
- Support program field staff in the collection of activity- and output-level monitoring data during activity implementation
- Collect data and routinely monitor project implementation and data quality verification
- Assist the MEAL Officer to ensure the databases are accurate representations of program performance across program activities;
- Participate in post distribution monitoring, quality standards monitoring as well as any other regular needs assessment to continually provide information and latest developments;
- Compile and share weekly updates monthly tabular and narrative updates on MEAL Progress;
- Assist with trainings as needed for programs and partner staff on the use of MEAL tools.
Accountability/ Complaint and Feedback Mechanism and Learning
- Work with MEAL staff and program teams to set up appropriate and functional community feedback mechanisms;
- Provide close follow up and collect client feedbacks through various channels that FHI 360 will install;
- Assist /ensure complaints and feedback are collected, recorded in a database, reviewed timely, tracked, and shared with MEAL/Program teams for a timely response, while updating the monthly accountability dashboard;
- Support the documentation and sharing of program results, ensuring sharing of lessons learnt and good practices;
Others
- Required to adhere to FHI 360’s principles and values;
- Support to ensure protection and gender sensitivity in all activities of the program
- Undertake other additional tasks assigned by the supervisor;
Job requirements:
Applied Knowledge & Skills:
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English, fluent in host country language as appropriate.
- Basic knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures with project design.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite software.
- Ability to problem solve and recommend corrective action as needed.
- Strong organizational and attention to detail needed to adhere to project deadlines.
- Effective communications in information shared by ensuring attention is paid to the specific components (i.e., formatting) of the communication, successful delivery and accountability for specific components (i.e., keeping timelines updated).

Education
- BSc Degree in nursing, public health, nutrition, statistics, economics, sociology, social work or other relevant field of studies.
Experience:
- One to three years’ experience and training on Monitoring, Evaluation and Accountability and Learning with an NGO;
- Previous experience with health, nutrition, protection and WASH programming.
- Proactively engage with clients, local officials and community members, acting as a community liaison focal point;
- Good understanding of the international and national minimum standards of services in humanitarian settings.
- Experience with data collection and data management systems and the handling of complaints and feedback.
- Hands on experience on Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Word
- Experience with digital data collection tools and the use of smart devices for data collection such as Kobo Toolbox, ODK etc.
- Good oral and written communications in English and fluency in local language is required.
- Passionate about humanitarian work and assistance.
Typical Physical Demands:
- Typical office environment.
- Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
Technology to be Used:
- Personal Computer/Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.
Travel Requirements:
- Less than 10%
