General context of the project

INTERSOS is a humanitarian organisation that works all over the world, bringing assistance to people in danger, victims of natural disasters, and armed conflicts. With its humanitarian operators, INTERSOS intervenes to timely and effectively meet the needs of people in crisis, with particular attention to vulnerable groups, such as women and children. Over the years, INTERSOS has developed activities in multiple sectors, such as protection and psychosocial support, primary health care, distribution of essential goods, shelter, water and sanitation, and education.

In this context, it is crucial for INTERSOS to be able to monitor that its activities proceed as planned, to adjust them if needed, to evaluate their impact, and to be a transparent and accountable Organisation to both its staff and the people it assists, as well as to all donors and stakeholders. To guarantee this, it is part of INTERSOS’ strategy to focus on improving Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) policies and practices at both HQ and field levels.

The MEAL intern will work with the HQ MEAL Advisor to actively support INTERSOS Missions in the set up of efficient MEAL systems, according to the Global guidelines and directions. Specifically, the focus will be on ensuring that each Mission’s MEAL Unit has access to, and is trained in the use of, the standard set of resources and documents necessary to implement the Minimum Standards in MEAL and Information Management (IM), as foreseen by the INTERSOS Strategic Plan 2022-2025.

General purpose of the position
