- Contributing to projects as a Team Lead.
- Guiding, mentoring, and cultivating a team of design engineers.
- Promoting a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Delegating tasks, tracking progress, and ensuring project milestones are achieved on schedule.
- Overseeing the design, development, and validation of components and systems.
- Designing mechanical and process systems and components.
- Leading design reviews and providing guidance on technical challenges.
- Translating customer requirements and specifications into robust, innovative designs.
- Ensuring designs comply with engineering standards, safety regulations, and industry codes.
- Ensuring design verification and validation are conducted through simulations, calculations, and testing.
- Ensuring product designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability standards.
- Implementing continuous improvement strategies and opportunities for design optimization.
- Recognizing design risks and proactively tackling potential challenges.
- Staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to encourage innovation.
- Spearheading initiatives for design optimization, cost reduction, and product enhancements.
- Working closely with the Technical Manager to ensure alignment on design, engineering, and project management objectives.
- Collaborating with the project controls team to ensure the schedule is accurately represented.
- Interfacing with clients and stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure design objectives are met.
- Communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences when required.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- A Bachelor’s degree (honors) in engineering or applied science, specializing in Mechanical Engineering, from an accredited university of recognized standing.
- P.Eng. License is required.
- Experience
- At a minimum, ten (10) years’ experience in mechanical engineering discipline.
- Experience in nuclear industry is required.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Good verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be fluent in English and able to follow and implement complex procedures. The ability to effectively communicate with external and internal customers and suppliers is required.
- Working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and interact with staff at various levels of the organization.
- Encouraging effective team leadership and team-building skills.
- Exercising sound judgment in technical matters, to routinely solve technical problems and to make independent technical decisions
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
