ROCKWOOL is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, based in our Ranson, WV office, onsite, full time, requiring extensive travel, to join our Group Technology Team!Travel the world and contribute your solid understanding of Mechanical Engineering as you work with a great team of talented engineers! Ranson, WV is just a short drive from Northern VA, with the opportunity to work on projects for extended periods of time in the U.S., Canada, Europe and/or Asia. At ROCKWOOL, we work relentlessly to enrich modern living through our innovative stone wool solutions.Join us and make a difference!What You Will Be DoingProjects may vary, from small machine deliveries and engineering support, to participation in large international green field factory projects. Projects are mainly to be executed in North America, but may include projects in Europe or Asia. As a Mechanical Engineer, you are responsible for the design, installation, commissioning and running of process equipment and solutions, including supply strategy, dimensioning and back up considerations.
- Produce mechanical designs (drawings and/or specifications) of production equipment
- Communicate with suppliers to place orders and follow up to secure compliance with specific design needs
- Execute mechanical project installation and supervision of vendors
- Make sure all documentation/reporting is done and archived following directives (European standards – safety certification of equipment) and ROCKWOOL Group Technology rules, and available tools
- 40% travel (roughly 150 days/year) outside of North America is to be expected for project execution, including supplier visits, coordination, etc.
- Prepare budgets and develop tender material for suppliers
- Ensure necessary expertise from other departments, including environment, safety, mandatory minimum requirements (MMRs) will be included in the solutions
- Mastery of company rules for purchase, secrecy and obligation to treat know-how confidentially
- Demonstrate adherence of company’s code of conduct/values while representing company with external contacts
- Entrusted with the authority to sign purchase orders, contracts, invoices as per agreement with management team
What You Bring
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- 3+ years of experience working with site installation, mechanical design, machine construction, design specifications
- 3D modelling expertise using Inventor or a similar program, required
- Work collaboratively and efficiently with partners and colleagues across divisions and borders
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to make decisions, thus being able to drive projects forward both independently and through others
- Prior experience as a mechanic or other type of craftsman is a plus
- Fluent in English
