MdM currently works in 30 countries across all continents where it focuses on 5 priority areas: emergency and crisis, sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction, migrants and displaced populations (health rights), health and environment.
MdM has been working in Lebanon for nearly 30 years and specifically on the response to the Syrian crisis since 2012. The goal of MdM in Lebanon is to offer care to Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese affected by this crisis. Currently, medical assistance is provided through one partner in one Primary Health Care Center in North Bekaa. MdM’s MHPSS intervention in Lebanon aims to strengthen the national mental health system and increase access to quality mental healthcare. MdM is working in the integration of mental health in the primary healthcare system and contributing to the development of a community-based mental healthcare services, opening and running community mental health centers (CMHC), in coordination with partners for the substance use, gender and inclusion components.
MdM’s activities are based in Beirut, Bekaa Valley and Tripoli.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the general coordinator and in collaboration with the health advisor based at HQ, you are in charge of designing, planning, implementing, adapting and monitoring health activities. You directly manage the medical team.
Your main responsibilities are the following:
- Participate in the definition of the country strategy led by the general coordinator and drive the medical and technical aspects in the development of this strategy
- Design, plan, implement, adapt and monitor the program’s health activities
- Ensure the quality and relevance of health activities, supervise the collection and analysis of medical data
- Recruit, manage, train and motivate the medical team
- Ensure the management of pharmaceutical products
- Carry out health needs assessments and evaluations of medical partners
- Cooperate with the administration team regarding budgeting and supervise the medical purchase process
- Represent MdM with authorities, partners and other NGOs on health issues
- Participate in the writing of proposals and reports
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Status: Employee
Contract: Fixed-term contract
Duration: 12 months
Starting date: March 2024
Gross monthly salary: 3,362 euros
Premium equal to one month salary paid in two instalments – minimum of 6 months seniority required
Expatriation bonus (10% gross salary per month)

Housing allowance
22.5 recovery days per year
5 weeks of paid leaves per year
Health insurance (60% covered by MdM and 40% by the employee)

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar position
- Higher education and qualification as Doctor, Nurse, Midwife or related field
- Medical project technical coordination with strong SRH experience
- Experience/knowledge of the region is an asset
- Knowledge and understanding of the Health system in Lebanon
- Ability to analyse the context and the consequences of an intervention, assess the risks and constraints, and identify priorities
- Strong leadership skills and a supportive management style (experience managing national and expatriate staff)
- Ability to pro-actively build relations with other stakeholders
- Good writing and communication skills
- Languages: Fluency in English (oral and written), knowledge in French and/or Arabic is an asset
- Good use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc)
