An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Mental Health Legislation Team at St Nicholas Hospital. The post holder will work within a small team of specialists who are responsible for the day to day administration of the Mental Health Act 1983.The post holder will be expected to provide excellent clerical and administrative support within the team to effectively manage their own caseload of approximately 60 patients.Main duties of the jobThis will include scrutiny of legal documents, rectification of documents, renewal of detention, and monitoring the consent to treatment provisions. They will provide assurance that patients’ rights under Section 132 are adhered to and be responsible to arrange patient’s hearings, if they appeal to the Mental Health Tribunal or Hospital Managers.Applicants will be required to use their own initiative to manage and prioritise their own caseloads, they will also require excellent organisation skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.   • Knowledge of Managing Peoples information and confidential codes of conduct

Desirable

  • Experience of multi-agency/professional working.
  • Working knowledge of the Data Protection Act
