SCOPE OF WORK:
Through the Microenterprise Development Program (MED), the International Rescue Committee provides refugees seeking to start businesses with opportunities for business training, one-on-one business technical assistance, and assistance with access to credit and capital. The MED Coordinator is primarily responsible for recruiting potential refugee entrepreneurs, facilitating training and workshops, tracking clients’ progress, assisting clients’ creating business plans and their access to capital, building partnerships in the community, and reporting as the donor requires.
Major Responsibilities:
Recruitment of program participants
- Work closely with internal staff and program partners to engage potential participants with the MED program;
- Develop outreach materials; create and distribute flyers and brochures to clients, local businesses, community centers, Ethnic Based Community Organizations and other places frequented by potential participants;
- Provide program orientations and training to individuals and groups.
Tracking
- Collect appropriate documentation ensuring participant eligibility to receive services;
- Oversee compliance of case file documentation for program;
- Conduct participant surveys and evaluation efforts;
- Enter data into the program’s information data systems and internal tracking systems;
- Provide the Economic Empowerment Manager with Program data and narrative reports as donor’s requirements.
Service provision
- Assess potential MED program clients and assist with preparation to enroll;
- Provide technical assistance to microenterprise clients, making outside referrals as needed;
- Coordinate training workshops, including arrangement of guest speakers and trainers;
- Coordinate with Financial Coach and assist MED program clients to access capital (small business loans) as needed;
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, Finance, Business, Development, or related field preferred;
- Demonstrated understanding of U.S. business climate and systems, business development;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically in a multi-cultural setting and with limited English proficiency speakers;
- Strong organizational skills including multi-tasking, prioritizing, planning, and effective time management;
- Fluency in written and spoken English, with bilingual ability in any refugee language preferred;
- Demonstrated multi-cultural experience;
- Computer literacy required, particularly proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Valid driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.
- Occasional night/weekend work required.
Working Environment:
- The Microenterprise Program Coordinator position is based in the IRC Wichita office, which is a standard office work environment.
Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
