About the Role:
Corus Radio and JUMP! 106.9 are looking for a Midday Announcer to join their team, based out of Ottawa. Reporting to the Program Director, the successful candidate would be responsible for planning and hosting a daily midday show from 9am to 2pm and representing JUMP! 106.9 on-air, on social media, and at events.
You will contribute by:
- Hosting a daily midday show live on-air that aligns with the JUMP! 106.9 brand and is relatable, interactive, and engaging.
- Creating compelling, fun and topical content tailored to females aged 18-44.
- Utilizing our social media platforms to drive listenership, engagement, and enhance the brand.
- Assisting the music department on a daily basis.
- Creating revenue opportunities through station sales and marketing initiatives in collaboration with station management and the sales team.
- Voice-tracking assignments for local & remote Corus radio stations; voicing commercials and radio promos.
- Establishing a sense of community and connectedness to Ottawa through on-air and social media engagement.
- Integrating into the Ottawa market and developing connections within the local community.
- Filling in for other hosts.
- Representing Corus and the station at promotional and community events.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Minimum three years of on-air radio experience in a medium or large market.
- Passion for music and extensive knowledge of pop culture.
- Skilled storyteller and communicator with a focus on personability and audience connection.
- Proficient in planning and executing a well-targeted and entertaining daily show.
- Strong engagement skills, on-air, on the phone, and on social platforms.
- Excellent show prep skills.
- Social media expertise, including content creation and posting on various platforms to increase brand awareness and engagement.
- Excellent on-air presentation skills and comfortable with public speaking at in-person events.
- Thrives in a creative environment with excellent on-air production sense.
- Improvisational skills for live interactions with guests, co-hosts, and listeners.
- Ability to edit and post video content.
- Familiarity with Music Master and iMediaTouch is an asset.
- Community focused mindset.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates a solid work ethic, consistently exceeding expectations, and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Team player with a collaborative and friendly demeanor.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
