The Antenatal Clinic at the prestigious Imperial College Healthcare – Queen Charlottes Hospital is looking for an experienced midwife who is confident, knowledgeable and dedicated in their Maternity Safeguarding Skills. You will be based in Antenatal Clinic, Monday to Friday. This is a full-time post.The post holder will be highly visible in the antenatal clinic setting providing specialist knowledge, clinical care, expertise and and as a champion will provide extra support to the antenatal midwifery team.The post holder will provide maternity safeguarding assurance to the multidiciplianary team as a whole. Informal visits will be welcomed.Main duties of the job
- As a Clinical Champion and expert, to lead the operational delivery & support the strategic delivery of safeguarding practice across the Trust in accordance with national, regional and local legislation, policies and recommendations, ensuring that a world class service is provided to children and their families by a well-trained and proactive workforce, ensuring that the Trust Safeguarding Strategy is achieved
- To provide visible, Clinical and effective leadership across the Trust, working closely with the safeguarding and other staff teams to deliver on the standards required
- To report to the Named Nurse – Safeguarding Children and Young People issues of concern/progress to be shared with the ICHT Safeguarding Board.
- To support the ICHT safeguarding children action group and to provide reports, briefings and data for the Trust Board and associated forums
- To support the Head of Nursing, Paediatrics and the Named Nurse/Midwife – Safeguarding Children and Young People to ensure the implementation of the National Service Framework for children and young people across ICHT
- To work in partnership with a wide range of agencies to achieve the highest standards of care
- To undertake research and audit in relation to safeguarding children and young people in order to gain new information and to inform future practice

- Registered Midwife
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Registered Health Visitor/Specialist Community Public Health Nurse / Midwife with completion of child & family focus programme or relevant experience
- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification e.g. Triple SSA Mentorship
SKILLS/ABILITIESEssential
- Evidence of undertaking senior role working with children, young people and pregnant people
- Demonstrable understanding of National and Local health strategies
- Good IT skills
- Ability to prioritise clinical workload according to need and make decisions accordingly
Desirable
- Awareness of Health and Safety Issues.
- Presentation Skills.
EXPERIENCEEssential
- Experience of working with safeguarding issues in an acute hospital setting with children, young people and their families
- Evidence of innovative practice that involves research and/or audit
- Experience of working with pregnant women/people with complex medical/social needs.
- Knowledge of current safeguarding legislation/guidance
Desirable
- Community Midwifery experience
- Experience of inter-agency working
