Brucejack is a fly-in/fly-out operation with pick-up points across Western Canada, making it easy for people from different places to join us. The committee also plans holiday decorations, charity raffles, and outdoor events, helping create a warm and friendly community.PurposeOur Brucejack Operation is now recruiting for a Mine Engineer (Projects) to join our team, with a competitive base salary between 97,000-105,000.The Mine Engineer (Projects) will support the Mine Operations and Technical Services groups with major projects. The successful candidate will be able to work with supervision and produce required timelines, budgets, engineering solutions and manage contractors.Essential DutiesPerform the following duties with safety being the number one priority:

  • Initiate, maintain and provide updates on capital projects due in the budget year
  • Aid with mine infrastructure setup including escapeways, vent raises, mine power centers, paste infrastructure and dewatering
  • Direct contact with engineering firms to support delivery of all engineering and design requirements for capital and operating projects
  • Liaise with construction/projects managers and supervisors to ensure success of all projects
  • Assist in the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping strategies for projects, development and preparation of technical specifications
  • Review, define and modify engineering proposals and scopes of work
  • Monitor and report on project health related to safety, scope, schedule, and budget
  • Set dates for engineering deliverables needed for the individual projects
  • Meet environmental requirements and demands, and assist in work related to obtaining permits
  • Follow Project Management Professional (PMP) guidelines
  • Perform trade off studies and present options for approval
  • Conduct other activities to support the safe, efficient, and successful development of the Brucejack Mine
  • Understand and ensure compliance with Brucejack safety policies and governmental safety regulations including Ministry of Mines and WorksafeBC

Training & ExperienceQUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum B.Sc. degree in Mining or Mechanical Engineering with three to five (3-5) years of experience in a mining environment
  • Accreditation in project management (PMP) would be advantageous

SKILLS:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with supervising and coordinating engineering/operational activities
  • Willingness and capability to work in and adapt to a fast-paced, safe production oriented setting.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills (English)
  • Leadership, planning, organizational and project coordination skills & experience
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
