Details:Mission and objectives:The UN Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) is the organization’s financial instrument of first resort to sustain peace in countries or situations at risk or affected by violent conflict. The PBF may invest with UN entities, governments, regional organizations, multilateral banks, national multi-donor trust funds or civil society organizations. From 2006 to 2020, the PBF has allocated nearly $1.47 billion to 62 recipient countries. Since its inception, 60 member states contributed to the Fund, and 42 have made commitments and pledges for the present 2020-2024 Investment Plan. The Fund works across pillars and supports integrated UN responses to fill critical gaps; respond quickly and with flexibility to peacebuilding opportunities; and catalyze processes and resources in a risk-tolerant fashion.Context:The United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO) in the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) has launched the Peacebuilding Impact Hub. The Hub aims to catalyze a deeper understanding of peacebuilding’s impact by testing and disseminating approaches to better assess the impact of peacebuilding interventions.In order to ensure quality of materials used for awareness raising, advocacy and public dissemination, the PBSO generates various visual products to convey the enormous amount of work being done on peacebuilding. Visual products provide the opportunity to present information and data and tell stories in a straightforward way. They are used on and disseminated through PBSO websites, social media, and advocacy reports. The Impact Hub plans to maximize its communication and outreach through targeted, diverse digital visual products such as: short videos for publishing on the web and social media. The Hub aims to engage an online volunteer to support with developing short videos.Task type:Communication and social mediaTask description:The Online Volunteer will:

  • Produce compelling videos, eight (8) videos (2 minutes duration per video), for the Peacebuilding Impact Hub for external communications purposes.

Requirements:3 years of Experience in Video editing including working with Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Knowledge of graphic software such as Canva, and/or Adobe Illustrator
Strong IT skills, including the use of MS PowerPoint
Demonstrable experience in producing various communications material including short videos (required)
Creativity in designing content, including storytelling skills is an advantage
Experience working for international organizations is an advantageWork Hours: 16-20
