Description:We seek to appoint a motivated, positive and enthusiastic Teacher of Music with a commitment for continued professional development. You will join a thriving, growing music department and established Creative Learning team who are passionate about innovative teaching with a focus on continual improvement, who enjoy positive relationships with students.The ideal candidate will be a dedicated professional with the ability to teach at KS3, GCSE and A level. Contributions to the Performing Arts & Music Technology courses would be desirable. You will be innovative, with a ‘finger on the pulse’ of any new developments relevant to the teaching of Music. You will be able to inspire and challenge students of all different abilities in Music and will play a strong role in promoting Music as a subject and as a lifelong activity. You will be able to demonstrate a range of skills in theoretical, performance and technological aspects of the subject, and be able to use these to help students learn effectively.We welcome applications from ambitious, resourceful individuals at all stages of their career, who have the drive, passion and vision to contribute to all aspects of the department’s curricular and extra-curricular work. This is initially a 0.5-0.7 part-time role with the potential for hours to increase from September 2026 as more hours become available with the continuation of new courses into the second year of teaching.Music at WyedeanWyedean’s Music Department is part of the Creative Subjects Learning Area and has: –

  • a music suite, housed in the Performing Arts building, with adjoining practice rooms
  • a creative hub for use with KS4 and KS5 students
  • access to the on-site Chepstow Community Music Centre that houses five fully resourced practice rooms, a larger rehearsal room and a recording studio.

Our specialist teaching area is fully equipped with iMac computers and MIDI keyboards, allowing students across the key stages, access to Garageband, Logic Pro and MuseScore software, in addition to a variety of acoustic instruments.We currently run courses in Music GCSE (OCR) and Music A level (AQA) and contribute to the level 1/2 Performing Arts course at KS4, level 3 BTEC Performing Arts at KS5, and are excited to expand our curriculum offer to include A level Music Technology from September 2025.The Department collaborates with the Chepstow Community Music Centre, which hosts visiting peripatetic staff offering a wide range of instrumental lessons. Sixth form music and performing arts students have access to practice rooms throughout the school day. Additionally, the recording studio enables students to produce recordings for their GCSE and A-level coursework, as well as for extra-curricular ensembles.
