The HSE protects our population from threats to health and well-being through the provision of national immunisation and vaccination programmes, the prevention and control of infectious diseases, and response to environmental hazards and emergencies. It seeks to deliver measurable health improvement and provides public health assessment and advice to health and social care service planning, all of which is underpinned by health intelligence.Vaccination ProgrammeThe key function of the Health and Wellbeing vaccination programme is to offer vaccines to the whole of the population for whom it is indicated. The Irish Vaccination Programme is designed to ensure the safe effective and efficient administration of vaccines to all who are eligible and wish to receive it.The Director of Nursing (DON) will be the clinical lead for the Health and Wellbieng vaccination programmes.They will have responsibility for:· compliance with medicines protocols and medication management across the programme.· all clinical staff on the vaccination programme including deployment and skill mix.The DON will be expected to develop, implement and monitor the processes required to deliver a safe and efficient vaccination programme.The DON will have full responsibility for the planning and delivery of the vaccination programme including any future health and wellbeing workstreamsThe vaccination programme is expanding the current workstreams include:COVID Vaccination Programme· Health Care Workers· Residential Care Facilities (RCFs) Older Persons both private and CNUs· Housebound· Mental Health RCFs· Disability RCFs· Prison· Congregated Settings· Social Inclusion· Vulnerable Groups· Areas underserved by GPs and Pharmacies· Children 4 months to 4 years· Children 5 years to 11 yearsFlu Vaccination Programme· Health Care Workers· Residents in Residential Care Facilities (RCFs) Older Persons both private and CNUs· Residents in Residential Mental Health facilities· Residents in Residential Disability facilities· Housebound· Hard to reach GroupsLAIV for children· Vaccinate all children in schools across the region as per national guidelines· Pop up LAIV clinics as requiredBOTP/IPA Childhood catch up vaccination Programme:· 0 to 23 year olds across the BOTP and IPA sites catch up vaccination programmeo Approx. 3,600 childreno Approx. 80 sites· Catch up immunisation programme for childhood vaccines· This programme has now been expanded to include those over 23years requiring vaccinationMonkey Pox:· Contact clinics as required· Vaccination clinics in STI clinics in University Hospital LimerickMMR Catch Up:· MMR catch up programme was rolled out to the public, 3rd level colleges and Healthcare workersOutbreak Vaccinations as requiredThe DON will be responsible for all clinical activity across all vaccination workstreams. This includes the management of staff for the programme.The DON will ensure that the service functions as expected within the area including support with complaints, YSYS, incident management, equipment service records, supply monitoring and management, resolution of data quality issues and responds to PQs, Press queries, etc as required.The DON will also be expected to work across the Health and Wellbeing division and will take on associated duties as required.Informal Enquiries to:Michelle Lynch, General Manager.
