Description of the Assignment:
The Consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Head of UXO Unit, and in close collaboration with the NRA, Department of International Organization, MoFA and the UNDP team. Based on the close discussion with UNDP and MoFA (NRA), the consultant will first (i) develop an overall exhibition implementation plan. In line with the implementation Plan s/he will (ii) coordinate and provide assistance for the arrangement of the photo exhibition; and (iii) implement the plan to execute the photo exhibition for three weeks in August 2025 in Vientiane Capital.
The consultant will source relevant photographs that align with the CCM objectives in Lao PDR since 2009. The consultant is expected to identify photographs from a variety of sources, including UXO operators, MOFA, NRA, UNDP, and other relevant stakeholders. Once the photographs are selected, the consultant will be responsible for securing the necessary copyright permissions for their use in the exhibition. Alongside securing the photographs, the consultant will also curate accompanying narratives that tell the stories behind the images. These narratives will provide context, highlight the human impact of UXO, and align with the overarching message of the exhibition.
The detailed tasks to be undertaken are as follows:
1. Concept Development:
- Develop a thematic concept, overall design and implementation plan for the photo exhibition aligned with the CCM’s 15th anniversary objectives.
- Identify and propose key messages, themes, and focal points for the exhibition.
- Integrate the concept of an artistic cluster munition casing into the exhibition design.
Photo Selection and Curation:
- Collect and review existing photo archives from partners, organizations, and stakeholders.
- Select high-quality photographs in line with the thematic concept, key messages for the exhibition that illustrate the humanitarian impact, achievements, and ongoing challenges of the CCM.
- Secure the necessary copyright permissions for their use in the exhibition.
- Ensure captions, credits, and contextual information accompany each photo telling the stories behind the images.
- Coordinate the design and placement of the artistic cluster munition casing.
Exhibition Design and Setup:
- Design a layout and visual flow of the exhibition to create a cohesive and impactful narrative, ensuring that the stories are clearly communicated to the audience.
- Organize the logistical aspects of the exhibition, including venue setup, equipment needs, and coordination with the venue.
- Coordinate with the UNDP and NRA team for the setup and installation of the exhibition.
- Oversee the final production and installation of the artistic cluster munition casing, ensuring it is properly displayed within the exhibition space.
Execution and Promotion:
- Ensure a successful execution of the photo exhibition for three weeks in July and August 2025 in Vientiane Capital.
- Work closely with the NRA and UNDP communications teams to develop promotional materials and strategies.
- Provide recommendations to promote the exhibition to the public, including outreach, marketing, and media engagement.
- Suggest creative ways to engage the audience during the exhibition, such as guided tours, interactive elements, or multimedia displays.
Final Report:
- Document the outcomes of the exhibition, including the number of attendees and their feedback, and provide recommendations for future events.
Period of assignment/services: 45 working days.
