With over 60 staff specializing in diverse areas of international security expertise spread across the US National Laboratory complex, North and South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe, IB3 provides expertise in risk analysis, logistics, cutting edge virtualized training with cutting-edge technologies like Digital Twins, and high-standard radiological testing through our NRC-licensed testing and evaluations lab.General Position Overview:IB3 Global Solutions is seeking a part-time undergraduate or graduate student intern to support business operations and gain exposure to US Federal national security client programs at the National Capital Region (NCR) office in the Washington, DC Foggy Bottom/Dupont Circle area, to start immediately. Expected workload is approximately 15 hours per week but may vary dependent on the candidate. The position will start through the 2025 spring semester with potential to continue through summer and fall of 2025. Occasional domestic travel may be requested but not required. The position is hybrid, encompassing a varying schedule including a combination of flexible telework and in-person support work, meetings, and mentorship sessions at the IB3 NCR office or other client or partner locations within the NCR.Essential Job Functions and Duties:This internship is an opportunity for the candidate to participate in real operations management, business development, and corporate finance activities for a rapidly growing government contracting company in the national security threat reduction and nonproliferation space. Job duties will vary significantly throughout the internship with exposure to different areas of the business and interaction with different Federal clients and government contracting partners. For this reason, strong candidates will be flexible and eager to continuously learn throughout the duration of the internship. Responsibilities and tasks may include the following or related activities:

  • Operations management activities including employee correspondence and tracking company projects, programs, travel, and ad hoc needs
  • Participation in client meetings with Federal and/or private partners including US Department of Defense, Department of Energy, State Department, Department of Homeland Security, national laboratory counterparts, government contractor partners, Embassies in Washington DC and abroad, etc.
  • Business Development support including participation in conferences/trade shows, networking /professional events, and tracking business development pipeline growth
  • Analysis of industry trends and opportunities, as well as participation in government, industry, and NGO events pertaining to threat reduction, WMD, nonproliferation, nuclear security, and related subject areas
  • Support organic growth strategies by identifying client needs and supporting customer relationship correspondence
  • Ad hoc support to accounting and contract invoicing, including clients, prime contractors, and subcontractors or vendors.
  • Coordination of marketing materials and communications campaigns
  • Develop presentations, white papers, or proposal documents for internal or client use
  • Support sourcing activities for candidates for contract positions

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in a business, security studies, international affairs, public policy, or related field
  • Experience and comfort using Microsoft Office Suite required (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and experience working with accounting/financial spreadsheets and models is a plus
  • Interest in pursuing a profession in a government service-related field, especially in business and program management in government contracting, national security, energy, international nonproliferation, nuclear security or foreign assistance
  • Strong interpersonal and social communications skills, ranging from formal written correspondence to comfort in networking and business development settings
  • Entrepreneurial and creative—being a self-starter and open to pushing new ideas is a must
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, and eager to learn
