We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Manager – Critical Care who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.An opportunity has now arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic, committed, motivated and highly experienced critical care nurse to join the existing team of B7 Seniors Sisters led by the Critical Care Matron.You will provide early intervention, support and clinical expertise to acutely unwell/ deteriorating patients through role modelling, possession of expert clinical skills, promotion of best practice, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration and in providing education. This post will take a leadership and supervisory role in developing, implementing and evaluating standards of care in line with evidence based guidelines.You will work closely with the critical care senior team but have your own clear areas of responsibility and accountability and be expected to contribute to the safe care of our patients and lead on new developments – both locally and nationally led initiatives.At the heart of everything we do are our core values:Include,Respect, andImprove. We encourage you to embrace these values throughout the recruitment process and in your role with us.Main duties of the jobYou will have proven experience in critical care care nursing but will also be seeking to expand abilities in multidisciplinary team work, leadership and delivery of excellent patient care across the Trust.You will provide specialist nursing care and expertise, both in delivering direct patient care and in support of other staff caring for the acutely unwell and deteriorating patients across the ENH NHS Trust.To expertly manage the ventilated, cardiovascular unstable patient both within and, external to the Critical Care Unit.You will be required to participate in internal rotation to night duty.About usAt East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, we are proud of the range of general and specialist services we provide and our 6,000 or so dedicated staff ensure our patients get the best care.   • Registered Nurse on part 1 or part 12 of the NMC register
  • ENB 100 or critical care modules level 2 /3 or equivalent acute care course
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to life long learning.
  • Management training/qualification.
  • Knowledge and skills to undertake extended clinical tasks relevant to the speciality
  • A relevant degree level qualification or equivalent experience
  • A relevant teaching and assessing qualification

Desirable

  • Masters in relevant Healthcare Studies
  • Advanced Life Support Provider/Instructor (or willingness to work towards)

Previous ExperienceEssential

  • Extensive post registration experience with proven band 6 experience within critical care or equivalent acute area
  • Recent demonstrable experience working in the acute / critical care area.
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Informal and formal teaching/lecturing
  • Participation in the audit or research process

Desirable

  • Previous critical care outreach experience.
  • Previous Hospital at Night experience
  • Contribution to the development of a specialty service
  • Undertaking of investigations

SkillsEssential

  • Ability to both direct and work within a team
  • Demonstrable, sound organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in a devolved management structure
  • Demonstrable leadership qualities including delegation and co-ordination of teams / junior nurses.

  • Ability to handle and interpret performance data
  • Planning/strategic thinking skills
