We are looking to recruit Band 5 Occupational Therapists to join the acute Therapy services within St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. These posts will provide an excellent opportunity for both new graduates and Band 5s with current post-registration experience to work with patients and clients who have a wide range of health conditions. We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate in their application form and at interview: relevant hospital experience including skills in autonomous decision making, acute assessment, discharge planning and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Our current rotations include both hospital and community-based rotations which include Surgery, Vascular, Older People’s Services, Oncology/ Specialist Medicine, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Stroke, Neurosurgery, Neurorehabilitation and Social Services. The successful candidates will rotate every six months at the beginning of April and October and will have the opportunity to work in various locations across Wandsworth.Main duties of the jobYou will carry a clinical caseload which will include; – assessment and treatment of patients within each service line for an array of conditions and to determine clinical reasoning and Occupational Therapy treatment in line with your case formulations – providing client centred occupational therapy to a defined caseload of service users, working with multi-disciplinary members and the wider occupational Therapy team. You will also have the opportunity to supervise support staff and engage with local service audit development projects and audits.About usSt George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provide services from two main hospitals, St George’s Hospital and Queen Mary’s Hospital, and two health centres, St Johns Therapy Centre, and The Nelson Centre. - Qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Health Professions Council.
- Continued Professional Development including evidence of reflective practice and clinical experience gained.

- Completion of a core practice placement in a hospital or rehabilitation setting.
Desirable
- Experience in any of the following clinical areas; Elderly, General Medicine, Orthopaedics, Community rehabilitation
SkillsEssential
- Clear demonstrable understanding of the OT process.
- Working knowledge of functional and standardised assessment tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English language.
- Good clinical reasoning skills.
- Able to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce to deliver a quality service to people from different backgrounds.

- Flexible approach
- Competent IT skills
- Able to work at moderate to high levels of physical activity involving the delivery of manual therapy, therapeutic handling of patients and the assessment, demonstration and installation of adaptations and equipment.
