Position DescriptionThe Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Iowa invites applications for two academic-year, full-time clinical-track faculty positions in the Elementary Education program. The successful candidate will be hired at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor.The clinical track at the University of Iowa has a career progression that includes promotion (assistant, associate, full professor). The College of Education provides support for clinical faculty in professional development, conference travel, and scholarship related to clinical faculty members’ areas of work. The positions will begin August 20, 2025.Clinical faculty are expected to teach the equivalent of 3-4 courses per semester and engage in other program-related responsibilities such as curriculum development, school partnerships, and student advising. Faculty are required to engage in at least 4 hours per semester of collaboration with teachers, contributing to instruction in K12 classrooms. They will also participate in service activities to the program, department, college, and university. The Elementary Education Program provides instruction to over 500 students each year. The program includes four literacy courses and a reading practicum, three math methods and a practicum, and several other content and content methods courses including over 80 hours of field experiences. Elementary Education started a new pathway for first year university students at UI to begin introductory coursework in 2022. Our Teacher Education Program values school partnerships and extensive support of students throughout their development as educators. Required Qualifications:(1) Teaching experience in elementary education in school settings; (2) Experience in building partnerships with local schools and communities; (3) Demonstrated knowledge of, and application of, effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives; (4) Teaching expertise in at least one or more of the following areas: math education, literacy education, and/or field experiences in teacher education.
Desirable Qualifications:(1) Evidence of effective teaching abilities in teacher education in higher education; (2) Licensure in Elementary Education; (3) Interest in building partnerships across campus and with local schools and communities.Online Application Required Documents
