POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking an Open Rank is seeking qualified physicians for the role of a clinican-educator in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension. Successful candidates must have an MD/DO and be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine/Nephrology and a passion for teaching.The Division of Nephrology and Hypertension practices at 2 locations in Tampa and serves a highly diverse patient population in terms of demographics, socioeconomic status, and medical pathology. Our academic team includes 6 physicians, 2 advanced practice providers and several MAs. The incumbent will utilize effective clinical skills in teaching, patient care, and research within an academic health science center. He/she will be involved in acute and chronic hemodialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, apheresis, peritoneal dialysis, placing vascular access, and inpatient care including ICU and outpatient clinic. Inpatient locations include Tampa General Hospital and Moffit Cancer Center. TGH is a top hospital in Florida and ranked in USNWR in several internal medicine specialties including gastroenterology, endocrine, pulmonary, geriatrics, and transplant (renal, lung, heart liver, pancreas).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- CLINICAL: Clinical outpatient nephrology at USF medical clinics. Clinical inpatient nephrology at Tampa General Hospital and H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. Will expand inpatient and outpatient dialysis population and clinical practice, especially in interventional nephrology training. Professional development and other duties as assigned.
- TEACHING: Participates actively in the teaching and/or research programs of the department/division, attending nephrology fellows, medicine residents, and medical students, providing guidance and mentorship. Will expand clinical services within the college, and in the community. Will keep abreast of new developments and exhibit a scholarly approach to learning. Participates in didactic lectures, presentations, and discussions at Grand Rounds, seminars, workshops, journal clubs, research meetings, laboratory and clinical training.
- Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
- Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
- Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
- May represent the university, college/school, or department.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor – Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine. Must be Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
PREFERRED:
Previous experience in a teaching setting preferred.
