LaPrairie Crane is one of Canada’s largest independent mobile-crane companies with fleet capabilities ranging from 5 – 600 tons, including all terrain, boom truck, carry deck, crawler, hydraulic truck, rough terrain, and tower cranes.LaPrairie Crane is currently looking for an experienced Operational Accounting Specialist to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, organized, adaptable and enjoy working in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment.Responsibilities:
- Assist in completion of the month end processes, including the preparation of month end journal entries, account analysis and account reconciliation.
- Reconcile bank statements and maintain the general ledger.
- Preparation and filing of GST/PST.
- Ensure inter-company accounts are reconciled monthly, investigate and adjust variances as needed.
- Record and manage equipment documents: set up of new equipment and disposals.
- Review and process annual equipment and vehicle registrations and prorate renewals.
- Assist in annual corporate asset insurance renewal process.
- Prepare various fleet-related reports for internal review by executive.
- Manage fuel cards and prepare and analyze monthly fuel usage.
- Oversee our Fleet Complete GPS accounts.
- Review and file quarterly IFTA reports.
- Analyze equipment revenue and cost analysis.
- Oversee annual asset, equipment and vehicle counts to confirm locations.
- Create ad-hoc reports and analysis as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in accounting.
- 3-5 years of intermediate level accounting experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience with fleet administration.
- Must be highly organized and able to multi-task with minimal supervision.
- Must have excellent computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook); experience working with Explorer Contract Manager (Eclipse) is considered an asset.
- Great problem-solving and decision-making skills; high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a growing, dynamic and changing environment.
- Self-motivated individual who is proactive and takes initiative; can work independently and in a team environment.
