Job Purpose
Maternity Cover, to support the clearing cycle for ICE’s suite of Energy, Interest Rate, Equity Index and Agricultural products and to ensure the smooth operation of the clearing process. The candidate will interact with Clearing Members, assist them and deal with their queries. The role will primarily involve covering the early and late shift and BAU daily tasks but will also potentially include exposure and input into projects. The role is a minimum of three days in the office per week, normally Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, but the applicant can work from the office more than the mandatory 3 days per week if desired.
- The Clearing team sits within the Operations Department which consists of two teams.
- Clearing – Seven team members.
- Deliveries – Ten team members.
- The Clearing team works closely with the Deliveries team and other teams within the Clearing House, including Treasury and Risk.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the Clearing House daily processes run smoothly (e.g., intraday margin calls, position transfers, user access etc).
- Monitor the margin call process.
- Deal effectively with any late payment should they arise.
- Monitoring the smooth functioning of Member facing systems (ECS, ICE FEC, MFT).
- Deal with Member queries and assist Members in their use of the Clearing Systems.
- Projects – The Group has a significant amount of project work (as well as covering day to day). Each team member is involved in projects to a greater/lesser extent. These can range from process improvements for the group to supporting regulatory change affecting numerous groups and members.
- Review and write procedures as required. We expect staff to be proactive and to make suggestions to improve procedures throughout the year.
Knowledge and Experience
- Previous experience in clearing services in the Exchange Traded Derivatives area of an Investment Bank or other financial institution is preferable.
- The ability to manage operational problems and to overcome them.
- Experience of ICE’s Clearing Platform (FEC, ECS) is advantageous.
- Knowledge and understanding of the margining process is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills and previous experience in improving and developing processes.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and retain a positive attitude when dealing with Clearing Members.
- Excellent attention to detail and high concern for accuracy.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications.
- Flexible – The core hours of the team are 9.00am to 6.00pm (London local time). However, the team works different shifts covering from 7.00am – 7.30pm. The role will require coverage of all shifts.

This role offers work from home flexibility of up to 2 days per week.
