  • Providing oversight of field changes during the project portfolio’s implementation activities.
  • Preparing detailed work packages, technical documents, work scopes, procedures, estimates, and schedules supporting Maintenance and Operations.
  • Providing innovative solutions to problems and challenges following sound engineering methodology.
  • Performing field walk-downs to verify the status of facilities against documented plans.
  • Coordinating and monitoring services provided to the team by external suppliers.
  • Participating or leading pre/post-job reviews.
  • Interfacing with design participants, operations engineers, technical staff, and other subject matter experts (SME) and obtaining technical input, as required, to meet project and client requirements.
  • Ensuring that deliverables meet the quality objectives of the project and ensure deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Identifying, assessing, and initiating changes to approved design, work scope, budgets, and schedules following applicable change control processes.
  • Maintaining the Whiteshell Site Material Balance Area in support of the Nuclear Materials and Safeguards program.
  • Authoring the Criticality and Nuclear Materials and Safeguards section for the Annual Compliance Monitoring Report.
  • Conducting annual system reviews to support the development of work program requirements based on regulatory, safety, environment, production, and budget requirements.
  • Reviewing and updating Operation Procedures to meet the requirements of the Managed system.
  • Participating in work identification, planning, parts procurement, scheduling, and execution of maintenance work, including projects.
  • Supporting the Engineering Change Control Operating Representative and SME role when required.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applied science from a university of recognized standing or significant related experience in a field of specialization pertinent to the position.
  • Experience
  • Experience in a nuclear operational or remediation environment.
  • Experience with operational function and maintenance requirements of industrial equipment equipment, remote tooling, and ventilation systems.
  • Experience in Project Management and Engineering Change Control.
  • Experience in working with contractors.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong decision-making process based on documented reasoning.
  • Able to work under pressure with conflicting priorities.
  • Possesses high-quality technical writing skills.
  • Must be able to gather, analyze, and assemble various technical information.
  • Able to interpret complex drawings and specifications in either paper or electronic format.
  • Possesses proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required to interact with team members, internal suppliers, operations representatives, external contractors, project stakeholders, and CNL management.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Results-driven and able to interpret project needs and implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of systems, structures and components associated with nuclear facilities.
  • Awareness of the National Building Code, National Fire Code, and company program manuals and how they apply to decommissioning.
  • Knowledge of working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of managed systems and associated policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Familiar with the specific safety regulations, guidelines, standards, and codes relevant to decommissioning.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply radiation protection principles, measurements, and contamination controls.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) 2.13.1 Safeguards & Nuclear Material Accounting and CNSC Criticality Safety.
  • Knowledge and the ability to use the Integrated Nuclear Materials Accounting system (INMAS) to receive, move and ship fissionable material at the WL site.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

  • We have a compressed work week, which consists of a four-day work week and ten hours a day – starting at 6 am.
  • Office environment where regular concentration at a computer screen is required.
  • Site visits will be required during all stages of the project.
  • The use of all applicable safety equipment and absolute adherence to safe work policies/ practices, radiation protection policies/ practices, and any other CNL safety requirements as mandated by the organization will be required.
